Default Quest for self betterment - New member.

Hello.

I can't believe i missed this thread :/

Well my name is Mark and I'm currently working part time in the care sector as a Special Project Coordinator. Which means I run afternoon groups for adults with learning difficulties who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

I was always told in school (fair few years ago now) that I would never amount to anything or find good employment. To only ever accept what is given, and when I did not understand something to tell them I was stupid rather then informing them I have communicational needs.

So my education is rather abysmal, but I am a rebel at heart. Spent some time challenging educational institutes for equal access to all courses for disabled people. I generally taught myself to read and write, and practised learning how to speak.

Before this I fell into a deep depression and had terrible debt that risked spiralling out of control, a dead end (or no employment) job.

One day a little little light flickered, and I went on into the world of Tv/Movies/Theatre and Stage as a Special Effects make-up artist for 7 odd years, it did not pan out as planned but I had no regrets.

Now I work where I work, and still see disabled people struggling along or worse yet giving up.

So I rebelled, cleared my debts got my money under control, have better savings then most friends I know who have full time jobs, and became savvy with my cash.

So now in my quest to better myself, I saw a tv programme about the stock market and I fell in love with it, normally I'm rubbish at maths but that little light sparked again, and I could see the logic and understand the stock market (to a limited way), so not shy of confornting or thirsty to learn more, I want to dip my toe into this world, and hopefully through example show that someone with a cruddy education but fire in their belly can achieve things in life.

Still learning as I go along, still need to know where to find companies, how to read the graphs etc etc..

While the money from my part time job is very good, it's still part time earnings, I believe I'm worth more as a person and unltimately I want some of the experinces that money can buy and the security of knowing I can provide and care for the people I love.

Well done for reading this far heh.

Mark
