Default Airlines making the news

Delta (DALRQ) and Northwest talking about a merger.

AirTran (AAI) making an offer for Midwest (MEH).

Airlines were beat up for a long time. Maybe it's time for them to come back.

And I just bought some Delta...but now I am wondering if that is a wise move or not. It was very cheap, and I am hoping they get acquired. If they do...what happens to my stock?

Another item to consider; whichever airlines are capitalizing on the July and August jet fuel contracts now, may become more profitable in Q2, if you believe crude will be substantially higher once we get past spring. Southwest did this last year and maintained a price advantage over others like American Airlines.

I noticed a lot of "buzz" in airlines as well. I've acquired a small position in XJT, a small regional airline that serves continental.

Copa Holdings (CPA), runner of the Panamanian airline is one of the best performing stocks in the IBD100 at the moment.
