The Select Sector SPDR Financial Fund (amex: XLF - news - people ) has jumped roughly 11% since the end of 2005, outpacing the S&P 500 Index and the S&P Depositary Receipts (amex: SPY - news - people ), which has added nearly 8%. The financials exchange-traded fund has been in a solid uptrend since March 2003 thanks to the strength of such major players as Bank of America (nyse: BAC - news - people ) and American Express (nyse: AXP - news - people ).
