Range trades

Hey all.

Sort of new to direct trading, and aside from a bunch of value plays I made this year, does anyone get into channel type stocks?

After observing some of my stock picks, I get to "know" them heh, for example, this one in particular Advanta Corp (ADVNB) seems to be stuck in a narrow range from 7.25 to 8+. Now, I have about 10 stocks in my portfolio right now and yes I'm just getting started, but I started to simulate buys and sells in a spreadsheet based on 1000 shares to start (commissions really start to kill you if you use any less, I think). Maybe I'll post the results later if I can keep up with these simulated trades.

Anyone else have any other methods for swing trades like this, any stocks that "behave" in their ranges?

stocks that make higher highs will continue making higher highs, if they cant theyll make lower lows and vice versa

therefore when stocks trade in a range, theyll slowly break the range
