I am reading the book...Hate to say it...kind of boring and doesn't hold my attention. I will finish it. I paid for it after all

i thought the book was terriffic -- very quick and easy read, and very intelligent.

the movie was a little underwhelming. hanks played a good role, but the script was weak and lacked the depth of the book. certainly i'd recommend reading the book, then go out and see the movie and make your comparisons. but don't see the movie, then hope to get into the book -- you'll lack motivation!

It is like any great book and movie that follows. The book is wonderfully written - good for all ages, and still stimulating for those more mature.

The movie, on its own, is a great movie. Done VERY well, interesting.

I personally have read the book and couldn't wait for the movie - still loved it! It followed the book very well, but if it had included EVERY detail that I wanted, it would have been a 4 hour flick - they cut the right stuff!

Went with someone who had not read the book, and was mildly interested in the movie - also LOVED it! Understood the story completely (except getting some character names right, which was difficult to get if you hadn't read).

Go see it!
