so basically what the DOW and COMPQ are doing in the top left corner...

the first box on the top left contains 4+ stocks that i actively trade and the calls/puts for them

the second box on the top right contains stocks/options that im considering to trade on a daily or weekly level

then at the bottom.. i have 3 charts open... normally all 3 are 5 minute charts or i have 1 daily and 2 5 min charts open..

if i can sit at my screen all day, ill normally keep the 5 min charts open.. if i know i have to get up frequently or on occassion, ill typically have 15 min charts open

on my charts.. i normally have the 5sma, 8sma open or the 20sma and 40sma open or the 20sma and 200sma open... then i have bollinger bands with 20sma and 2 deviation, 2 period rsi open, and cci open.. the cci i adjust depending on if im using a 5min chart or 15 min chart

a lot of times ill also switch out and use volume and/or macd as well

You can see what I am looking at

in this link to a screen capture - sized down for folks with smaller screens

My screen resolution is 1680x1050, and you can see that I could use a second screen.

The screen is divided into two areas. The area on the right is the Schwab trading software. In that area there are:
  • Two trading windows
    • One for stocks
    • The second for options
  • Three Chart Windows
    • One for the stock being analyzed, with tabs for different time frames
    • The second for market indexes, including three time frames for the VIX
    • The third tabbed to show intraday info for 15 different stocks
On the left side of the screen are three windows
  • One for the chat room
  • A second, below and left, for emoticons
  • And a third for one-on-one conversations. In this case, it is with WSE

NOTE: The two trading windows and the first chart window are linked together so that they will show information about the stock symbol selected for the stock trading window.

There are several other 'windows' in both the trading software and the 'Windows' display that are minimized.
Those are the windows I would show with a second monitor.

I am not a pro like you guys, mine is just the chat window, my questrade acct, and my etrade acct and then just a whole bunch of tabs.

But I am in the process of setting up a trading software on my separate PC in my office. In my room I have a Mac and a lot of trading software's don't work well with it unless I split the HD up in to Windows and Mac, but then I'd have to go back and forth and install XP on my MAC, which I don't like.

I might look in to doing that in the future, once I get comfortable with the trading system.

one thing i suggest doing is keeping a separate computer or laptop for all of your trades.. always good to have a virus, trojan, ad free system when you have plenty of valuable info there
