Default E*Trade, ScottsTrade, TDWaterhouse...

I'm currently with TDWaterhouse, and each trade they're charging $11.95. Their record keeping and software stinks in my opinion. Their monthly statements are confusing and if I didn't separately keep track of my trades, I'd have been lost. The worst part of TD is their stock tracking software. Stocks I've sold or covered still remain on my screen. Called a few times to have them deleted and they're still there. Any good trading sites you can recommend?

Buy&Hold is $14 for the month, but uses widow trades... like 9, 12 & 3 EST.

I have been looking at leaving B&H to go with IB..http://interactivebrokers.com $10 a month min commisions and like $1 a trade...The $10 is canxed if the commision is $10+ from online trades.

even though i pay 11 a trade (10.99), i really like ameritrade. They have great charts and a great streamer. The trades are quick and effective. Their statements are easy to read. Commissions are always annoying, and the difference between 8 and 11 is not enough for me to switch to scottrade, but i do hear interactivebrokers is good.

Etrade has nice fast transaction guarantees and such, but unless you have a lot of money or a ton of trades per quarter going on, each trade is 12.99 and the charts aren't all that great as far as I'm concerned (not big enough).

At Ameritrade, you also get 10 (or 15) free trades after you sign up. If you are an Apex client, you get 35 free trades. And I find their customer service to be very efficient.

Thumbs up

Scottrade Elite, but may move to tradestation as my trade volume reaches their prescribed level (to avoid paying for the platform).

Scottrade has been far superior to e-trade.

Take a look at optionsXpress -- I'm currently in the midst of transferring my Ameritrade account to OXPS.

TD Waterhouse and Ameritrade just joined forces and are now TD Ameritrade. They have not yet told us much about what changes will be forthcoming or what the trades will cost. TD Waterhouse was charging around $21-$22 for a limit order.
