Default The weekly rule (Donchian)

anyone familiar with or use it?

the more I read, the more I hear old timers suggest its the only rule they wished they had followed.

Luc (or anyone else), I was wondering if you might have a filter for fetcher?

I'm trying to write one on my own. (graph a 20 day price channel, and find stocks that close above within last day????)

here's a short description.

http://www.investopedia.com/articles.../02/052102.asp

basically, go long when the price exceeds the highs of the 4 preceding full calendar weeks. (sell short just the opposite)

i am interested in testing/learning more......

cheers

Here's a great article:

Price Bands (Donchian)

Donchian technique in 2nd post:

Cautions of curve fitting:

I have used Keltner bands (tweaking for futures), but not donchian. Not sure about coding in SF. Search seems to be down at the moment.

Hope the above adds some info to your research.

Grunt.

as always, much appreciated. good advice, especially that last link.

it turns out fetcher knows all about Mr Donchain.

show stocks where the high closed above the upper Donchian Band(14,4) within last day
and price is between 5 and 10
and average daily(30) volume is 200000

i dont think my "within last day" line is working but i am going to monitor these 3 returns

ANH, POL and SKYT

cheers !

ok, my volume line was wrong

show stocks where the high closed above the upper Donchian Band(14,4) within last 1 day
and price is between 5 and 10
and average volume(30) is 200000

much better results, but perhaps a day late for these 2

SUF and HYC
