Default Scottrade vs. ????

Just bought some CHVC today and the sale didn't go through using Scottrade. I guess you have to call the office and they have to do it for you.

I also learned you can put limits when you wish to sell.

Are all the discount brokers like this?

Also, what do you suppose the reasons are that they wont let us trade Pink's like normal stocks, are we babies that need to be watched over?

Since no one else bothered to answer............

stops and limits are a basic part of any system and you would probably be wise to understand them, and use them, before you buy any stock.

I dont use Scottrade. I do not know their policy for penny stocks.

Rich

some stocks are restricted to internet purchases. CHVC happens to be one of them. Call in and they will fill your order for you. No extra charge either.
I use Scottrade as well, so I feel your pain.

Glad you jumped in though!! Enjoy the ride!!!

Freaksceen,

Thanks for the reply, what company do you use and are there restrictions? I don't like the feeling I get having to hang around all the time with a couple of grand being invested in a stock that could turn down to nothing.

AJ:
Thanks buddy, whats you idea for Friday. Did you stay in or sell out just before closing?

Do you know if Scottrade has text messaging capability? I would feel more comfortable with that. If not, I may get out, the risk to profit at this point without control of selling while not watching the screen just goes against my grain.

I haven't had any complaints with scottrade on these little guys or normal orders at least on the ones they allow you to trade online.

AJ - I don't know if you drive up and down the DNT at all, but if you do on the West side just south of the Capital One Auto Finance building FXCM just open an office. It looks like the top floor of a large office building...forex must be profitable

Rich, you can set a stop limit order. You set the price at 5%, 8% loss, which ever you choose. If it tanks, you'll be "stopped out". Adjust the stop accordingly.

I still have CHVC...added some to my position today by the way. i have a mental stop, so if the stock drops, i'll sell most and keep some for the hell of it. those shares are basically free anyway!!!

Pinquin...I drive I-20 only. 635 some. I rarely drive up north, much less on the tollway.
don't know much about Forex either.

Then I was mis-informed by Scottrade, they specifically stated that you could not put a stop limit order or any limit order in on a pink stock. I'm sure glad you told me this!!!

Thanks so much AJ, at the moment I wish I would have trippled my possition. This is more nerve racking than watching the last two minutes of a SuperBowl!
