Doing well with energy stocks! ESLR and SU

With the anticipated signing of the energy bill, coupled with the growing demand for energy, I decided to invest in these two companies. They are both alternative energy companies (solar and natural gas) that should be receiving quite a bit of tax-break support. Since picking these stocks up from Thursday, they're each up about 6%. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm really not sure when to sell...these seem like long-term investments.

That gas stock should be pretty good, which one did you get? The solar energy stock may be up on recent hype about the bill in Congress, keep a close eye on it and dump if it looks like it's heading in the wrong direction. That may be profit taking in action.

I've invested an equal amount in both of these companies. Since the bill was signed today, I'll keep my eye on the stocks. I have a feeling both of these will do well in the for both the short and long term. Both were recommended by Cramer over the last week. This is my first time experimenting with a stock that Cramer urges. We'll see how this plays out.

Evergreen Solar is doing a good business, but they are still in the red with negative earnings... just not as bad as they were. That stock jumps up when there is good news about alternative energy, then declines a bit from profit taking. Look at the chart, that is all I was saying. It could be up from here, but it could take a while before they start reporting positive earnings. If you don't have much in it, then it might be a good long term play. It's risky. :)

I place my eggs in many energy stocks by using XLE. It's the big iShares ETF that follows the energy sector.

I've enjoyed nice profits from it but sometimes it annoys me. The ETF places too much weight in Exxon and not enough in other hot energy stocks with more growth. But I like the long-term growth prospects.
