Default NLY

What do you all think of Annaly Mortgage? Cramer has mentioned it a few times when it was 18 -19. Now under 16 with a 10% dividend it sure looks good. I think when the fed stops raising rates this could be good for the long term.

I agree. So much so that I picked up some shares recently. Its down a touch, but NLY seems like a solid company that should perform well once the Fed settles down.

I use to own the stock and wished I could have sold it at the $21 level. The rising rates will definitely hurt the stock as well as the proposed slowdown of the "housing bubble".

I agree the stock has a great yield but it use to be better. They reduced their dividend when I owned the shares. Stock price took a hit after that. So, be careful. Check out the S&P Report on the stock. Otherwise, wait it out and see what happens after the next rate hike.

It was downgraded by one firm today... got knocked around to the $15 level... seems like that is about the bottom for the stock. But yes, I could see this turning in to a long term play....

Stock hit a new 52 week low today. Starting to look better and better as the yield rises with the dropping stock price.

I'm getting hammered by NLY - down over 10% today! Still think long term this stock could be a winner. I wonder if we're at 'Mon Back time?

NLY got hammered because they are reducing their dividend. I owned this stock from $15 and watched as it hit $21. It was a good dividend play. I really wished I could have sold in the $20's then shorted the damn stock. Short interest was high and many analysts were bearish on the stock. That was a couple of months ago. The downside at the time was the rising interest rates as well as a possibility that they were going to reduce their dividend. And today it has come to pass. Here is the news link:
