On second thought, I want to retract this comment, the "stuff" you pick up on the internet is not just fine for the casual trader/investor.

The bulk of the information on the internet is either geared towards selling you something, or is presented by individuals that may or may not have the expertise that they portray.

The second part of the above statement is what really concerns me. Many individuals will initiate a website or post information on message boards that to the untrained observer will appear to be fact, when in fact, these individuals are probably not any more savy when it comes to trading than some of the newbies.

Reader beware, make sure the information you are reading and basing your trading education on is valid, and the author is not just a poser who has only been trading for a short period of time, or not at all.

There are a bunch of free websites out there that have good information about trading, but none of them will teach you how to trade for a living. I can go down to the college book store and buy all the books that they use in medical school for brain surgeons, but I would certainly not want to bet my life, (or my capital for that matter), on my ability to perform brain surgery after reading the books.

The original poster of this thread was asking for suggestions on schools and classes, not self help.
