People really make me sick, when cnbc has a guest on (ie herb greenberg) & those stock tumbles they don't have a web site for herb greenberg haters... or do they.... people need to get a life instead of blaming someone for their stupid movements

I've lost a ton of money watching Madmoney.
I wouldn't risk much if any of my portfolio on Cramer's recommendations in the future. Still wondering who he thinks he is to announce that the feds were through raising rates 4 or 5 months ago when GM announced their problems. Still wonder who he thinks he is to give his blessings to chk when he said it was loved by wallstreet. Hell, it was overbought. Why didn't he mention that. Lots of people bought it after listening to him and lots of people lost their ass.

CHK was overbought with all the hype already priced in by the time Cramer recommended to get back in after the pullback.
I only watch the show for informational purposes and do my own homework. Its all about picking through all the fluff of the show that you actually find some Gems. I've been making money on his reco's only after I do my own research and buy the stock on pullbacks. Otherwise you're running into a field of landmines if you just decide to buy on his reco's alone.
Sorry to hear that you lost money.

due dil·i·gence n.
a high degree of carefulness
LAW the degree of care and control that a careful and reasonable person would exert, a legally relevant preceding standard for establishing liabilities.
Jim would say that statements like "my broker says" or "my friends broker says" or "I know a guy that knows a guy who says" are not considered effective Due-diligence. That would include saying "Jim told me to buy stock". Buy Low sell high Booyá

We all understand "Recommendations" and "Do your homework" but let's face it. His recommendations are presented as well researched opinions. He talks often about his staff of researchers and his previous hedge fund having made millions and now he operates a charitible trust. He begins each show explaining that he only wants to make money, not friends. Well, he doesn't. This site is loaded with lots of investors that share their respective losses having visited "Cramerica." When he says "I want you in it now" that doesn't sound like go check it out, do homework, think about it, visit the website, check SEC filings, check technicals and fundamentals ect. It sounds like, "My ace staff has done all that or I wouldn't be standing on national TV saying BUY BUY BUY". Now I just listen to his insights on trends or sectors but I stopped buying his reco's some time ago. The best thing I can see to come from his show was Thiery seeing a need to create this forum. I get great input for stock ideas from other forum members. I've even made some money here. Thanks TCG, Optimus, DIW, Eman, Englishman, metalhead, jnjacbr, etc. Oh yeah even Booyahoo.

Optimus is right on the money. Research wins the day. I have made money from some of his picks, but i used the pick to open my eyes to some new stocks rather than stumbling through stock screeners.
I am neutral as a fan...it's entertaining.
I wish I would have bought GOOG on his advice at $285....100 shares equals $10,000 profit in a few weeks...doh!

Oh yeah, if I blamed "bad tips" on the people who gave them to me, my world would be much smaller to include brothers, sisters, friends, neighbors. So far my dog Jake has not steered me wrong, but then again he drinks alot of BUD.

hey glenn, maybe you should STOP watching... go join the under 2 toddler club.. CRAMER IS ONLY A TOOL., why you picks his picks is your own business, he had some great gainers too...... maybe you overlook the higher price stocks and stick w/ the under 50.00 = you could be rich if you bought goog, vlo, wmf, unh (when it hit 49), ba (when it was low 50"s), pg (low 50'), mot (17), OH NO you bought CHK, tuff break

I agree that cramer makes some bad recommendations. However, horrible recommendations or not he has excellent insight, and i have used the insight to my advantage. In addition, look at the stuff cramer has been right on! I'm jealous that I didn't get in on the Play (in it's hayday of course), GGC, the Whole Foods and definitly GOOG. Also, in my opinion, this October seemed to be horrendous, there were days of total massacre. We have seen APPL and CAT as well as other amazing stocks have there greatest quarters in their history and get slammed! In addition, as stated previous, your are really on your own. Cramer ultimetly doesn't press the buy buttton on the computer. Do you rush out to your computer and buy the "stock du jour" when other CNBC or CNNfn programming is talking about a stock?
My 3 cents

Why is everyone relying on the recommendations of Cramer. It seems like if he recommends a great stock, its BUY BUY BUY...and those of you that do buy right away end up complaining because it may go down. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. If Cramer can predict how every stock will do, we will all be rich. Use Cramer as a tool to learn the market and companies and how the economy is doing; however, don't just buy a stock bc the picture of a bull comes up when it is brought up.

A couple of you posted about not getting in on Google. I was kicking myself for not buying when it was at 85.00 So let me ask? Do you still think it can grow even more? It's way up there now.

I rushed out and bought CAT when it was down for the Mad Money fantasy game.... with fake money. I bought HAL and RIG, too, they are cranking. Maybe I'll put some orders in today now that some stocks are taking a dive. Hmmm, wonder which ones?

TJB, That's anybody's guess. Cramer's math says that the price target is now around 450. I too thought GOOG was expensive when it IPO'd around 85. I didn't buy it. It immediately dropped to around 75 and I was feeling pretty smart. The next time I checked it, GOOG had gone straight up. I have now bought and sold it three times and got back in at 280. Now around 390 it may consolidate for awhile. I have a trailing stop set at 375 but I think it goes higher from here. I don't feel comfortable recommending stocks or their entry level. Frankly I'm not qualified. All I can tell you is that Cramer still likes it to 450. Take that for what it's worth.

Now I don't have enough money to buy it. soon after that I sold most everything I had and bought a VETTE. Now I'm day trading again to build up the CASH for repairs. I bought an 1978 Vette. I may try to buy A share next week if it hasn't gone up too far. Back when I was 85 I could have purchase 20 I'm crying now.

tjbear,
It sounds like you should sell your shares in VETTE- doesn't seem to be a good performer....

I don't understand all the "cramer hater" posts. There's nothing wrong with hating cramer, but if I really thought all his picks were wrong, or that following his picks would put me in a house of pain, I would say NOTHING. instead, I would keep the secret to myself and buy puts on all of cramers picks. If you think the "masses" will move on cramers picks, only to be suckered out 2 days later, I would (as a hater) "encourage" the masses to follow cramers picks, insuring even a bigger payoff by shorting his stock picks. if you "warn" everyone that his picks are bad, fewer people will jump in and the stock price wont move up as much after 1 day (therefore reducing your payoff if you short after that).
as you can tell by my screen name, I'm just trying to figure out this game. I've followed cramer's picks with mixed success (mostly good). I've even shorted some of the stocks he mentions a day or 2 later with good success.
I don't know if cramer is a "guru." I think it has to be nearly impossible to come up with 3-4 picks a day and not get any wrong. I look for specific things when he talks about a stock pick. this is my filter for which of cramers picks to consider. It's worked for me so far...

Welcome to the forum whatamidoing - sounds like unlike some of his critics (and unlike many of his fans also) you know how to keep Cramer in perspective.
