The best Stimulus idea ever?

This may seem silly but..

With all the talk about Stimulus on the news every day My girl friend came up with what seems like a great idea that would work better and cheaper then anything ive heard of before- why not give each person in America a million $ that would move this economy and make a lot of happy people out there-

creating just a few trillion out of thin air like they are in the process of doing, will wreak havoc

multiply that by a few 100 and it would destroy what is already an almost valueless dollar

Psychologically, millionaires/billionaires wouldn’t notice they got the extra cash. And 95% of the rest of the working population would quit their jobs and go on a spending spree only to overspend and undersave and be in worse shape than before they got the money. That’s if you give $1,000,000 to a few people. Giving that much money to everyone in the U.S. would be even worse because you would have so many people in that situation AND you would have hyper-inflation. Milk would cost $100 a gallon etc.

And, how would you define “each person in America”? What about people here illegally? What about citizens living outside the States or legal residents who aren’t citizens? Is there an age restriction? Only 18-65 or would infants also qualify?

I think some of the stimulus money may be better spent going right to the taxpayer/consumer instead of being filtered through the banks or government projects. But, it needs to be done in such a way as to promote responsible spending to stimulate the economy and not cause inflation. Good luck finding that easy solution.

But seriously, why not cut the tax on the rich and the poor, stop govt spending and start intelligent govt regulation!!!

Oh wait, it's the government. No competition and all the power. Military intelligence = Government intelligence.. :(
