i think this is a great long term investment. I see the stock trading about $12 by Feb.

FYI some insider info.....in Jan. Ford may ask white collar workers for a 2-3% pay cut and look for some big movement in management come Jan. The amount cut and movement depends on their 4Q.

I'll buy it as a long term only after it drops below $6.00. I am worried about possible Chapter 11 with all of the U.S. automakers. The only automotive stocks I would touch at this point are Honda and Toyota, although Nissan looks like it might have a future ahead of it with it's new models. If they can build a next-generation Sentra that was as much of an improvement as the Altima, Nissan has a shot at significant growth in the next few years.

I don't like anything with a union associated with them. Look at all the airlines... it wasnt just fuel costs that killed them, its the unions too. Wouldnt be suprised if the automakers were next.

Well as we just saw with earnings Ford just came out with a net loss. So now GM and F are no longer actually making money. I don't like investing in companies that don't make money.

If they start pushing out the union; I'll start getting interested. Right now the price is attractive and the yeild is very high, but the threat of bankruptcy and having drop ... oh I don't know ... 70% (like Delphi did) in 1 day ... is enough to keep me away.

But hey that's just me, if they don't go bankrupt it could very well be a solid long term investment. Good luck to you and let us know how it pans out.
