View Full Version : 1 year on the forum Today

I joined a year ago today, it's been terrific for the most part. Some really knowledgible folks here and it's been a great learning experience.
Recently however several (if we can believe they are not the same individual) new members have shown up and lowered the level of discourse to unacceptable levels. I have sent Thierry PM's but apparently he is too busy to answer them. He runs like 15 of these ventures so I understand.
I don't have to participate if it is no longer enjoyable, so until these characters are expunged I'll post elsewhere.
Any of you that care to can contact me via e-mail through the forum, include your own e-mail because I won't answer you here.
I will continue to participate in the monthly contest, especially if watchtvgetpoor actually develops a set and participates, just to remind the dopes what a real stock trader can do.
Thierry, if you read this, please continue to donate my winnings to GDFLS and his Northern Dog Rescue.
Good luck to all the good folks here.

Just set the "ignore" feature. Their dribble is just that.

aiki14,
You are an asset to this community, and to loose someone of your abilities is a travesty, you should not let them get to you like that!

The answer is not to run and hide, but to just ignore them. if you leave then they win.

If you decide to leave you will be missed!!!!

more so than others will be appreciated!!!

And so the exodus begins, time to find a more upscale neighborhood. Well, if nothing else, this forum and it's moderation or lack thereof illustrates very well that egalitarianism cannot work when malcontents run amok.

I agree this forum will be loosing a valuable contributor and some great money making ideas, it is a shame that a few can ruin it for the many. I don’t know who some of the new guy(s) are and why they have the ass with you and Bahroo, as I check in here now and again and do not read every thread. But all they seem to be adding to this forum is the propagation of nonsense. You know what they say, garbage in…garbage out. So if this forum wants to transform from a reasonable exchange of stock ideas to one where personal insults and homoerotic posts about bubble heads are the norm, I guess then more of the regular contributors will be leaving as well.

I want to personally thank you for taking the time to answer questions I have asked, even the most simple rudimentary ones as I am still very green in this game, you never talked down and always made me feel like I was learning not being stupid.

And again thank you for your generosity in donating your winnings from your monthly challenges to our Northern Breed Rescue group. I will let you know if/when I receive them.

This is a sad day. I understand why you are leaving, but believe me you will be missed. Your posts are of great interest and I have grown to look forward to your thoughts on the market. Thank you for answering my questions.

It is also sad that Thierry has allowed this forum to falter as the newcomers take over.

We will look for your return after we have beaten back the negative posters.

I wish you continued success in the market and in life.

Then don't let them "run amok" folks. I hope fortitude is employed in personal lives more so than in this forum. :?

that's not the point JT. it's not running and hiding at all!

the lack of moderation is the primary reason for the garbage we see. it only adds to the frustration when it comes from only 3 posters. seems like an easy fix to me. soon it will grow to 10 or more. none of us are getting paid here to share our thoughts and ideas to put up with this garbage. free speech wins.

I agree with Aiki and Tony.

It has been a pleasure knowing all of you over the past year,
Luc, Aiki, CharGuru, Svenwolf, Clavo, Tony, MoMoney, optimus and others, I've learned a lot from all of you and hopefully contributed some. It's a shame it has come to this.

Bahroor signing out. This will be my final post.

I agree totally with aiki.

I remember back to about 1997-1998 when Yahoo Finance was a reputable place for stock chat, but look at the piece of junk that is now.
It's unfortunate but the popularity of a site often opens the doors to degenerates that don't appreciate it's true value.

I'll continue to use my available resources to do well in the markets, but trying to share that knowledge with others that are up and coming in a forum like this is just a futile effort and a waste of valuable time, when moderation of the forum is minimal at best.

Good luck to those of you that contribute here in a positive way. To those that detract from that I can only hope for your sakes that they tire of it and move on to other persuits soon.

Good bye.

I'm reminded of one of my favorite movies:

What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

-Bluto Blutarsky

The best medicine for those douchebags is to not be given a response. I hope some of the other veterans stick around. I appreciate the insight from the more experienced as I try to learn more about the trading game. Cheers.

There should be more moderators here. I am new to these forums but I know from other forums how a couple of immature posters can ruin a community. Some people around here need to really grow up and become less self-absorbed.
Its such a shame too. The only reason now to register is to be able to email aiki. I am not going to call anyone out, but I think you know who you are and I hope you are happy ruining a good thing. Thanks alot.

How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

OPEN NOTE TO THIERRY:

I have only been her since September, but I have seen a great forum start spinning into the ground. It's true that a few (one?) bad apples can spoil the whole bunch, and February's been a good example of this.

Thierry, if you are too busy with your other sites, then designate moderators who have limited privledges to kick out accounts like watchTVgetpoor, cornerZ, and about 6 other identities that this person or duo use. There is nothing that says they have to continue having an account here if they are so destructive to the free trade of investing ideas and are driving away other members who you would certainly agree are more valuable to keep.

There's a great saying that 'Your freedom to swing your fist ends at the tip of my nose' -- these punks have been allowed to punch everyone in the nose and no one seems to be taking control.

They waste everyone's time by playing on people's desire to educate the newer investors, only to find that they are sticking to venom, cursing, deception and anger. They are not here to learn, only distract. I have put many of them on 'ignore', but the s/w for this site still lists their threads when using the 'new posts' feature. I still have to search through 30-40 garbage posts to see 3-5 useful posts.

Thierry, if you don't take some decisive action to reverse what is going on, you will have one less site to manage, because you will only have the two children who write their "cramer sux" posts to themselves.

I have learned a lot from some of the very educated investors here, but TV, CornerZ and the like are ruining it for me and everyone. They need to go, and prevented from returning in 5 minutes as another identity.

Thanks,
Taylor

Trolls seem to find every site eventually. It's hard to moderate them without also opening up a whole different can of worms with people who don't like subjective moderation. The best way to get rid of trolls is not to feed them, but unfortunately, there has been a lot of feeding here. What a shame, this has been one of my favorite sites, and I barely know who Cramer is.

If everyone really is leaving, let me just say that I have enjoyed your posts and learned a lot as well. Anyone who has been in business for any length of time knows that no one is irreplaceable, but I just want to thank you all for the time you've spent here, giving your input and feedback. Good luck, wherever you end up, guys. Feel free to PM me if you settle somewhere else that the Trolls haven't found yet.

Spanky is correct, give some real investors the power to disengage the membership of a few in order to keep this place going.

Luc, Bahoor, Aiki, zzz and others, I will miss you greatly. I hope you check in from time to time to see if things have changed for the better.

Rich

What a shame  that the top leaders are leaving this forum, and to the fools who had to ruin it. I joined this forum maybe a month or two ago, after reading many posts by MoMoney4Me, bahroor, Luc, Aiki and I am sure many more. I love how there are so many great people here to are willing to donate their value time here to share some of their knowledge and expertise. I do not blame them for wanting to leave, no one should have to put up with it.

However, this website does not seem to have even one moderator, who deletes those types of posts, or bans those members.

We will miss you guys, thanks for sharing!

I have been very busy lately, not with other sites but with a family crisis. I don't much like the tone of some of the posts either, but the ignore feature allows more freedom for those who like to engage in that sort of thing without spoiling it for the rest. I do not tolerate multiple identities, though, so I will look into that and see if any action is necessary.

Thanks, Theirry,

Its one thing to not agree with Cramer and others, but Watchtvgetpoor posted some really offensive remarks to Bahroor and others. Check them out, they are completely off topic, inmoral, insulting, agressive and just down right rude.

I would think this is enough for an eviction from the group or at least a severe warning with eviction if it happens again.

Thanks again.

Rich

BTW, I hope your crises works out for the best......

Thierry, I hope your family emergency is not too serious. I'm sure that everyone here has you in their spiritual thoughts.
I have not been here too long myself, but I am beginning to recognize the legitimate posters, as mentioned already in this thread. I will miss their names as their absence will make it even harder to sift through all the noise. Lets hope that smarter people than myself will continue to post here so that we may continue to learn. I know that stock investing and mutual fund assests are the keys to my future wealth and retirement.

Do as I do and "Ignore"

NEVER-EVER COMMENT TO THE RAW CRAMER BASHERS--NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, AND MORE NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (March, we should have another Raw Cramer Basher join us, so DO NOT RESPOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I know the urge is to respond with reason, DO NOT--FLEE YOUR COMPUTER!!

You have to be strange to enjoy raw Cramer attacking, for example, I cannot stand Hilary Clinton, but not in my wildest nightmare would I go to a forum based on liking her and attack, attack, and then attack some more--What would be the point?!

Too, never-ever not visiting here is a major DON'T, because of the Cramer Slammers--this is giving in to them

By the way, Cramer if you are reading this, I cannot believe you are giving this crowd nightly free publicity--shame, shame, and more shame on you!

Haha, great post! I agree fully, having our forum leaders leaving is what the bashers wanted...it destroyed this forum. The only way to rid the forum of these pests is to just ignore them.

Thierry,
Wishing you my best,
Thank you for looking into the issue, as for me I have followed aiki, svenwulf, tonym and the other well respected Highly intelligent individuals
and continue to benefit from their wisdom.
I only hope the immature games will disappear so we can come back and all the new members can enjoy their insight.
Its not as though we ran away, just tired of the childish antics and prefer to discuss stocks and ideas rather than defend or help defend each other.
