Clearwire, operator of next generation wireless broadband networks for over 188 thousand subscribers, set the terms for its IPO on Tuesday. My Merrill guy called me to see if I wanted in on this and I said no. I just don't see enough of the things I need to pull the trigger. He also has IBKR which is the interactive brokers IPO, that one I am giving some consideration.

I don't have the dates, and sadly it's unlikely you can get in any of the IPO's underwritten by the big B/D's. And if you can it's likely to be one you wouldn't want to get in on. 20 million shares of a hot IPO would be swallowed by Goldman's or Merrill's regulars in a second.

Or open an account with a full service broker and then qualify.

Here is what the SEC has to say on why the average investor can't get IPO shares.
