I'd like to hear everyones strategy on trading during major events. For instance, the inauguration....do you stay on the sidelines till the next day or trade like a normal day?

Why would the inauguration be a major event for the stock markets? Is there going to be surprise announcement made during the inauguration? We all already know Obama is the one to be inaugurated. We all know that he is a democrate. We all know what his position is and plan is for the economy. We all know that he is going to shut down Gitmo. Etc..
So unless there is a suicide bomber blowing himself up during the inauguration, I can't see why this would be a major event.
Wall Street always has discounted things that are going to happen in the stock markets.
I see that the Fed's announcement on interest rates after the FOMC meetings would be more of a stock-market affecting event than the inauguration of the US President.

As always watch volatility. If your stock choices are rangebound stay away or trade a different one, if not then enter. I heard on CNBC that 72% of inaug days closed lower and my daytrade picks for tomorrow are 2 shorts and a long.
