looks like it is ready to rise, any thoughts on this?

Noticed gas was up 18 cents here also :) Probably unrelated.

Hows that goin for ya? Down to 2.79 right now. I decided as unstable the market is right now, Its going to take ALOT for me to make any LONG play's. Short only until the market corrects itself. So sometime mid 09? :beerglass:

All forces point to this being a great big loser for a long time. EXCEPT....big oil will do anything to jack up prices, up to and including starting WW3 (they are testing the water right now).

average down and stay for the long haul

this is a sure winner over the next 4 years or until we get an American back in the white house

USE: If you hold on til Friday it's my opinion that you will get a pop back to 3 or 3.20. There should be some buying ahead of the inauguration and some short covering. I could see a 4 or 5% gain. I'm picking up some longs here in small quantities myself. Best of luck.

I got into UCO on monday at $11.76 which is another leveraged long oil play. Going long on oil right now is a no brainer. Prices will be back in the 60's or 70's by June. We over shot the upside in the summer a bit and now we are over shooting the downside.

Right now there are several oil plays down ALONG ways from their summer prices. Which oil play will bounce the highest from its current price?

It may be a great time to 'buy and hold' til june-july when the heat jacks up the price when everyone wants to take road trips.

Which one is the most leveraged oil play out there?

Good recovery to 2.98 after lunch. It may have a second day in green.

I hope you bailed prior to open. I just picked some up at 2.801. Should swing back to the 2.94 range prior to close today. +4% isn't a bad day.

Ready set CLIMB. Premarket looks promising for a good climb today. Are you still in at 2.90?

Just curious... did you take the opportunity today? If you did, congrats on a nice trade.

Yea I sold it over 3, considering buying it again though. Its remained kind of flat the last week though, so I may look elsewhere.

Will keep an eye on it though, buying it even lower would be ideal. guess it already qualifies though

I bought some at 2.80ish. I think I'll have short term regrets, as this thing looks like its headed lower. Hopefully, over time, it might improve.

As an option on a 2x oil play, you might want to consider UCO, slightly higher expense ratio than DXO, but is an ETF instead of an ETN which negates any credit default risk inherent with ETNs

That is an excellent suggestion and I thank you for it. I still feel buyer's remorse on getting long oil now, but perhaps over time it will play out. Thanks.

Ya, i may switch to uco instead at some point, probably going to wait a bit. Both havent done much lately. Decided to get out of DXO as it is possible for it to go to zero apparently, if oil price goes down enough.

Ive been reading about these, gets a little complicated :frown:

Levaraged plays are not meant to be help long term. you guys might want to read up on decay component in leveraged plays.

I agree about the time decay. My time frame is usually 30-60 days, maximum, usually less.

Funny thing about time decay and SKF. When it was 95, I bought calls and sold out at 185. Now at 185, seems like a good short (with time decay etc.) but still didn't do it.

Figured I would update...

I bought some more of DXO around 2.50, also some UCO around 12.00 last week.

Both doing awesomely so far. I still think this is a solid play moving forward
