View Full Version : Brain Flatulance: What "Fast Money" teaches me...

In my illustrious investing career, I must brag that after a year and half of following Cramer, while I am not in the league of those callers to Cramer who tell him that after only a week of watching the show, they have already sent ten kids to Harvard, bought a seat at Harvard, taken a trip around the world with Buffett with Cramer's stocks, I can, however, pick stocks that bob like a darn fishing cork--Karma, do not nail me on a little braggadocio on my ability to buy a "Google" and put it in the "bob" stage
Okay, "Fast Money": these guys teach me how little I know and in a short lifetime can know about investing, thank you very much
They scare me, actually, with all their jabber that translates out to how mean Wall Street is, with all their short selling, option and future trading, and gawd knows what else...Cramer makes it seem so easy, then I watch "Fast Money" on how the pros nail you unless you travel in and out ever so precisely with them
I will stick with some "Mad Money" plays, but for real investing I will let my mutual fund do the heavy lifting
In sum: you won't hear me calling Cramer about how much money I have made in a week of watching him, and this makes me feel like crap, because I do my homework! Thank gawd, the callers who have made a fortune in a week of watching the show do not know about the "Fast Money" crowd lurking about Wall Street with their long knives sheated for the show with smiles and good fellowship

Fast Money is a very revealing show about how real traders work and how complex the game really is. Cramer is great and I love to watch him, but he keeps it too simple at times and does not give all the other sides of the trades. But let me say that when Cramer was on that show he mixed it up with them pretty well. For some reason Cramer feels that we can't keep up with all the other details, and maybe he is right.

You might try watching Wall Street Confidential for the adult version of Cramer. His explanation and prediction of the bears taking AAPL down was an example of the insight he offers through that outlet.

"Fast Money" is why I keep my real investing in a good, balanced mutual fund, though if I was in my 20's and could afford to lose to learn the game, I sure would...The "Fast Money" guys in a way make my skin crawl, because I know in the real world Wall Street are packed with their kind--who don't smile and cut-up
As is, "Mad Money" stays fun to me and allows me to tinker around with some stocks for fun
I have caught Cramer "Wall Street Confidential," and again, when I see what Wall Street is really like, I think how much like a slaughterhouse the place is, but cleaned up
I enjoy the shows and want to continue enjoying them, but not losing sleep trying to play their game in my life
Cramer must have a lot of enemies on Wall Street when he reveals their nasty little secrets--but this keeps him honest with him knowing they lay in wait if he does such little things as insider trading--Bet he cannot simply just throw away his garbage, because private detectives are waiting to dig through :)

Hedge fund traders are just that - traders. A wily trader like cramer would be better off showing more of the sell side instead of year-long, month-long "investments."
That's why I occasionally like Fast Money. They (mainly Bolling) nailed the $513 double top on goog while those beguiled by the magic marker on cramer's knuckles see their "investment" stay flat for months.

"Fast Money" is fast becoming Wisdom packed
Cramer is all over the map with stocks, and Newbies miss this with how Cramer throws off sock picks
Always wait a couple weeks to see if a stock really has legs (not just the Cramer Bounce) and is not an Ad Separator, which is often what he is doing--separating ads

I really enjoy their show. I watch it every night. I like that they have a fast pace, so you get a lot of information on every show.

At first, I really hated the show, but the show is getting better and better, as is Cramer with more focus on Wisdom, Tips, and Education (W-T-E)...Stock Tips are just that: a stock to do Homework on and be patient...As an increasingly seasoned Newbie to the stock game, I like AND NEED the W-T-E
I don't like the way Dylan favors up to the Admiral and seems to look down at Guy and Jeff. Sometimes Dylan can be a Smart allick and he belittles them to the point where it embarrases ME.
It was a breath of fresh air since Dylan's been sick and that nice lady was taking care of the show, I don't think she's as educated in stocks as Dylan, but she's not insulting or brash.
BTW, ZyZZ, your description of the street being a slaughterhouse seems very appropriate!

The Wall Street behind the public relation crap is one mean and nasty place
I will never forget what the street did to energy beyond the oh-so-saintly Law of Supply and Demand
The street kicked this country when we were down!
B-S ON IT WAS ONLY THE LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND!! after a certain point it was a pure slaughterhouse operation--legal, but still nasty and mean!

i like Radigan, and hope he was just going for the long vacation week.

I like him too, just not his attitude towards everyone but the Admiral and the other guest next to Radigan. He can be a real smart a*$ if you know what I mean.
BTW. it was reported that he had the flu and should be back Monday.
