This is a nifty hybrid that can be plugged in to run on electricity. It uses a lithium battery and that's where we have a problem. Look at how many of these cars they expect to produce. Then look at how much lithium each car will use. Then compare that to the annual production of lithium. The numbers don't add up.

If the Volt survives then you might want to start buying stocks on lithium producers.

Hmm...interesting. Found an article (link (http://seekingalpha.com/article/76875-strong-growth-in-lithium-demand-to-power-fmc-corp-rockwood-holdings')) about the future of lithium batteries/producers.

Found some manufacturers:

SQM
ROC
FMC
HEV

Another thing that concerns me is the physical lifetime of the batteries. How many times can you recharge them before they need replacement? And what if you don't follow the optimal charge recharge cycling regimen? One of the myths of current hybrids is that they eventually become cheaper than the equivalent gas powered vehicle by the fuel cost savings, but it turns out the batteries need to be replaced right around the time the savings breaks even, and that was determined using $3+ gas .
Seems to me if GM is relying on this vehicle to be it's savior, it's taking a big risk.

Buy oil stocks, any threats what so ever to the billions of dollars in
Black Gold buried in the ground will be destroyed.
Who killed the electric car?. GM, EV1 1996.
