What will it mean if mark-to-market was rescinded? Will banks suddenly look healthier? After all, why should assets that are planned to be held to maturity be marked down? Will this mean more lending by banks to each other? Will it also mean that banks that failed would never have failed if mark-to-market wasn't implemented? What will it mean for the markets?

Maybe we could push for bad economic news to be outlawed and censored?
