hey is anyone following greek shipping company Diana shipping.
its been going up and have good yield of 9.5%
SFL is spin off of another shipping FRO doing well.
noticed that they always dip after ex-div payout.. and bouce back up again..
DSX..they have few of their ship contracts coming due and they should be fetching higher price for new contracts...
any input appreciates..

looks like they had good 3qtr..
up and .40 cents divident.. not bad.. at 9.5% yld...
price is moving up.. will sell after ex div date Nov22..
watch the price fall....
buy at dip......
Revenue grew 19 percent to $30.6 million from $25.8 million during the same period a year ago. Analysts expected revenue of $29.4 million.
Diana Shipping cited growth of its fleet, which was partly offset by lower charter rates.
The company also declared a quarterly dividend of 40 cents. The dividend is payable on or about Nov. 30 to shareholders of record on Nov. 22

That entire sector is RED HOT but looking VERY overbought at the moment.. Take a look at DRYS.. up 68% in the past month... all of those stocks have been parabolic.. EXM, DSX, EGLE, QMAR.
I might be inclined to nibble at SEA or SSW... but I'd wait to let that sector consolidate a bit first.. Too much risk of buying a huge top.

Refining, shipping near cyclical peaks
By MarketWatch
Last Update: 8:44 AM ET Jul 19, 2007
BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Paul Larson, editor of the Morningstar Stock Investor newsletter, said that the refining industry -- and to a slightly lesser extent the shipping industry -- have been "white hot," with companies about to report quarterly results that are "off the charts."
Rather than being a cause for celebration, however, Larson said that status is a reason for concern, noting that refining appears to be at a cyclical peak and shipping is not far behind. Larson said it may be time for investors to take their profits and move on.
With that in mind, Larson suggested investors might want to sell Western Refining (WNR) and Valero Energy (VLO ) , as well as Diana Shipping (DSX ) .
Meanwhile, Larson noted that some big, historically superior companies are good values right now, priced at a significant discount to their fair value. These stocks include Berkshire Hathaway B (BRKB ) and Procter & Gamble (PG) .
Larson's other recommendations during a radio interview with Chuck Jaffe, MarketWatch senior columnist, were to hold Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ) and to sell Caterpillar (CAT ) . In another interview, Charles Rotblut, senior market analyst for Zacks.com was bullish on eBay (EBAY ) , suggesting that the world's largest auction Web site is significantly undervalued and is headed for $42 per share -- a gain of more than 20% -- over the next six months. Rotblut noted that Zacks pegs the fair value on eBay, based on discounted future cash flow, at $50 per share. Check out eBay's latest earnings.
On the flip side, Rotblut was bearish on LeapFrog (LF ) , saying the educational toymaker is facing significant pressure and is headed to $7.25 in the next six months, which would represent a loss of more than 25% from current levels.

I started when price was $10....
Before I owned FRO, which did very very well for me.
if it dips, will buy some shares again.

I just covered DSX at $12.75, about where I shorted it
I'm shorting OCNF instead, in the sector... A company with 3 ships..
DSX pays too strong of a dividend to stay short for very long
Adding to my short in OCNF.. I'm out of DSX

I think its a great stock with that big dividend.. It just went up too far, too fast over 40% in three months..
That's always a good sign that a top is in , in my experience

Ex dividend date is Aug16t(record) and paying out on Aug 26th.
stock always goes down around ex-dividend date and will bounce back up again. look at the charts on all div ex dates.
this could be bargain price to get back in.
its been around $-22-24 last few days with up/down of the market.
might buy more shares to add for long term
For long term, revenue looks good with charter booking of their ships.

These Dry Bulk shippers sure came back after that big dip.....
EXM, DRYS, TBSI all hitting new highs
Recent IPO in the sector Paragon Shipping (PRGN) is setting up for a breakout over $16.00
should jump to $20, near term after that.

another one of my favorites...
watch of another dip and buy and hold...
i almost sold this back in Aug when it went down to low $20's was ready to take 40% profit but i love this stock and stuck around.. look where it is $36
I see nice future with earnings due to rate lockin and demand for dry bulk shipping of raw materials, especial in Asian(china's growth and demand)

Analyst are predicting high earning/share for 2008.
good stock to hold for long long long term..
you will do very well in Dividends....
if the market moves up, I see $50 in near future.. unless there is profit taking..
