Cramer's Mad Money Daily Recap - Tuesday, 10/21/08
On Tuesday's Mad Money show, Cramer observed that the Dow Jones Industrial Average is now exactly where it was 10 years ago, causing many investors to lose faith in the markets. In this environment, Cramer recommended stocks with dividends. As an example, Cramer pointed out a stock with a 4% yield 10 years ago with the dividends reinvested would be up 48%, even if the shares themselves had not appreciated.
Cramer recommended dividend paying Duke Energy (<u><a href="http://quote.barchart.com/chart.asp?sym=DUK&code=BCMM" target="_blank">DUK</a></u>) as a stable, recession-proof company with a 82-year history of paying dividends. The company offers a 5.8% dividend today.
