So, LabCorp (LH) landed a contract that Quest (DGX) walked away from because (according to DGX CEO) it was unprofitable.
My wife works in a Medical Center and was telling me that the head of the MC was telling her that the Humana HMO portion of lab testing was being fought over between DGX and LH with a tendency towards DGX...just hearsay mind you. She also told me that DGX can electronically pull their lab test orders whereas LH is not set up to do so, I guess you get what you pay for (United Health, that is)
All highly speculative I know, but it may be worth keeping an eye on, DGX may have had good reason to walk away from United Health.
