I was talking with a friend living in a dorm about how well he was keeping the place cleaned; he's living with another friend from high school and I'm amazed how they haven't destroyed the place. Later on he showed me pictures online of the average college student dorm; you can see some of the floor, the rest is a mess. It's still sanitary.
And then he showed me the apartment above (safe to click it now :D.).
At first I found this funny mixed with disgust, but then it struck me; what does this show of the choices/lifestyles of some Americans? The person living there isn't exactly what you could call, well off... Certainly this isn't a unique event.
Seeing this I really find meaning in my mother's lessons on cleaning. And that I'm glad I'm living at home.
