Just curious if the news on sony postponing the release of their PS3 will have enough impact to make Microsoft worth a buy coming into the holiday season? For those unaware Microsofts XBOX 360 is already released and Sony's ps3 was going to be its competition. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think MSFT hasn't been the same since Gates stepped down, MSFT needs a product to compete with whatever Apple is about to release, Apple might be a better play but I wouldn't hold it past the announcement as I don't think the product will be what everyone seems to think it should be: a cell phone/ipod and if it isn't then Apple quite possibly goes into freefall. I'd think that the xbox has already been factored into the pps of MSFT.

There seems to be a mini tech rally esp. among the large cap techs. It all began with Cisco reporting good numbers. That stopped the downward spiral. Then MSFT announced their huge buyback. That gave it a nice bounce. The street may be "wanting" techs to comeback hence the reaction to companies that meet or slightly exceed their number.
I'll wait till I feel really sure that this is a genuine rally, though.
