Can only be good in the short term, however as soon as the next quarters' numbers are released and Ford loses even more ground to Toyota and Honda it's more of the same, imo. Domestic vehicles are still shamefully inferior and buyers are becoming better educated about their shortcomings each day and subsequently making the smart choice from an investment standpoint. Take a look at the residual values of domestic vehicles vs their Toyota / Honda counterparts, in many cases the domestic vehicle is worth only 25% - 30% after 3 or 4 years, while the competition is at 45% or better. Sure, Ford can turn it around, but it will take a long time and certainly isn't guaranteed. Again, imho.

I think its likely that Ford does a merger of some sort. Been a few rumors out there about Toyota or Nissan (im not saying they are true). But shareholders have to see this as a huge positive. Boeing is a world class company whose stock was on fire. Boeing also has unions so the new guy will know how to deal with the unions at Ford. The 0% financing is also going to boost the numbers in the coming months. I think a merger and a brand facelift can get them back on track, I personally am looking for $10 in september.

Fwiw; 0% interest only serves to further diminish the value of the product both real & perceived. Good products do not require such drastic selling measures and I've got to belive that the Street will view it in the same manner; a poor product being deeply discounted just to move it.
