No, not this one! I tried that once with another hot stock, kept waiting for a good dip that never came. Now it's $7 above where I sold off at.

I wouldnt sell this one. It just wont stop. I got in a little over 30 and I am going to let it ride. If we have a bad winter this thing could rocket.

It might not have been too dumb to cash in right now and try to pick up at a lower price, because people keep talking about profit taking coming up! That doesn't mean it won't go up higher, eventually, but you can still try to get back in, on dips. We did take some profits on some of the shares, then bought more, a while back. We're just not going to do that, right now, because we think it will go up higher later on and basically we are worn out from all this attention we've been paying to our stocks. We are getting too busy, whew! You sure won't get bored with the energy sector. :o
Any comments if you think this stock will go any higher than $38.? I got in at $29. I'm feeling like taking some profit, but since I don't have a large quantity of this stock I'm sitting on the fence with what to do.

I'm certainly interested in this profit taking that supposedly coming on monday. But CHK and ECA are too hot to bother selling and the pullback is more likely to affect hot tech/other stocks.

That's a good call Englishman, I was thinking the same thing.

Well guys a pull-back on CHK is not very likely.
Did you see how CHK went up around $1.20 after hours? Did you see why? "CHK announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Columbia Natural Resources," making CHK the third largest in the U.S., trailing only those of ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips, in terms of natural gas reserves.
That's some good company to be in. I'm sure glad I'm in.

Wow! Godbless the CHK management! They might as well light a natural gas filled fuse under their stock and watch it rocket to the heavens!

Booyah to everyone!!!
New to the forum, 1st post. Anyone have some suggestions about when to sell CHK? Cramer been saying it could double but I think that high 40's is a time to be wary.

what is the likely reaction by investors in reaction to chk's purchase of columbia natural resources? will be skyrocket like swn this past week? or even peeter out a bit?

Man I wouldn't dump this one. Probably would have been better off w/a Trailing Stop to protect gains. It's up 2% in aftermarket trading on the news of them buying Columba Natural Resources. This makes them the 3rd largest behind Exxon and Conoco. It's market cap doesn't reflect that. I say enjoy the ride.

This stock is driving me nuts. I was in around 29, sold at 34. Came back at 35,and just sold today at 38.70. I just need to walk away for a week, and I would prob have the extra couple hundred in my account. Any news on a pullback for natural gas in the future- or is it ok to get back in at 40.

ykim99 - no straight answers - you want us to predict the future for you - we can't.
I personally would advise you to hold onto it until the beginning of next year. There's too much natural gas money to be made this winter for CHK to not go higher. I think it can go to $50 but we'll be able to estimate better after the Q3 earnings reports this month.
ECA is an interesting play today - dipped a lot. I grabbed some more on the pullback this morning.
Still lots of room in OXY too which I don't in fact own!

Took some profits today and will probably repurchase on a pullback if one comes. Had a lot invested in this and already lost a bunch of gains, so we didn't want to lose anymore, for now, and took advantage of the pop. Also sold off XEC and several other stocks. Might buy back some HAL if it dips, again, too.
