They have been hyping this for a while... what is it? i like the music! I also wanna know whats up with the intern(s) he has been using- the bull and the waiter. Did someone get a production budget upgrade, or has fast money been taking share? How do i sign up (or are they the ones who have to clean up the set every night- bummer!) Hey, Cramer is even gettin juiced up hanging out with beltway boys.

I haven't watched madmoney in a while. I'll tune in for a couple of minutes here and there. Do you think his ratings are down?

His ratings will go down as the market goes down. It's the nature of the beast. Jim has a finite number of picks that will work, and in this market climate that number gets even smaller. Consequently, all the fairweather fans will abandon him as they were never interested in learning but just wanted someone to tell them what do buy. As Jim gravitates more toward the tutorial format I've seen a couple times lately, and btw enjoy much more, he will lose viewers. Most ppl don't tune in to TV to learn, they tune in for entertainment and perhaps this is why, as a nation, we're so dumb.

Very well said Mad. I agree as I have also enjoyed his theories on the market via the special shows. The day to day stock "picking" seems more for entertainment value as no one can predict every stock in 10 seconds although the sound effects are entertaining.

Market may go deep down but it will be some stocks or commodities that might provide an opportunity to grow. Chance of this opportunity will be probably less then it used to be but at the same time making money on stock market should not be always easy.

And if economy goes so deep into recession what will be seen in next few months then it will be no other option for Fed then lower IR. I am not agree with people who say that "bearish market is granted". We never know for sure. This is a dynamic world. Global economy.

So it will be still intresting listen to Jim.C.

Intern slaves, elected officials, ceos, beltway pundits, late night talk shows, and now star atheletes? Go Cramer!

I also like Cramers tutorial type shows. I think with bad tape they are more important than ever. But Cramer would would be the first to tell you he must act the fool- and it is an act- to attract the first timers. Hopefully we stick around for the 20+ years of hard knox, and dont play the lemming, bidding his fluff up in AH.

That said, i consider Cramer first a stock maniac. Second, a good to excellent journalist/author. But he has a strong sales background from his days at GS. I think this combination gives him an unrivaled edge to do what he does, and consequently a big target on his back.

So i must take issue with bagging his lightning round. Of course no one can know every stock. Of course when you pick that many, there is bound to be some fluff. But i think Cramer has seen more companies start up and fold than i can keep on my watchlist. I think he is encyclopedic with his picking knowledge, and when he draws a blank (tonight- aztec) he tells ya he will have to get back to you. He prolly wont, but hey, hopefully you got an idea on how to check it yourself.

And yes i am a Cramer homer. Still looking for that intern application.

PS- Cramer is the second credible voice i heard say Bernanke is coming to the rescue next meeting. Food for thought?

In answer to the original question, Sudden Death is like a 1 minute lightning round where the callers are not supposed to say "Booyah." To hear a parody of this, listen to my show #34: Sudden Dearth at

Have fun!

Darn. Saw the title of the thread and thougt old Jimmy had thrown in the towel. Haven't watched the show in a long time. Judging by the number of posters here any longer, not very many others do either.
Did buy some UNH today. Heard he threw in the towel on this after a 50% fall from his table pounding. Actually, that's starting to be a way to play his names. Wait a few months after he recommends them (which seems to be the kiss of death), and then pick through the rubble for bargains like GOOG, UNG, SGR, SBUX, CPST and GS. Still waiting for the oils to make lower lows, but i can be very patient. Sudden death...that would be a good name for Jimmy's stock picks!

that's funny aj14. its rare to see cramer haters on this forum. i remember when jc recommended mot over nok (i owned nok) when nok was trading at $17. When it ran to $22 he started recommending it, soon after it sold off back to $19. I should have sold when he reco'd it.

i occasionally watch cramer to get his take on the market, but that's it. i like my own ideas, of which i get through numerous sources.... i wish i still had my subscription to ibd, that was a great resource for stock ideas...

Really? He finally capitulated on UNH? That's great because UNH has hit bottom. See here:

Sudden Death is just a new segment on his show. It's like the lightning round except no "BOOOOOOYAAAAAAAH" fluff. It's pretty good because I'm sick of how the lightning round has just turned into a chit-chat shmooze. It would be better if Sudden Death were it's own seperate segment and not just a 20sec end of show shout out.

I do think Cramers ratings have dipped or either stopped climbing. Recently CNBC has asked people to survey their thoughts about the show, with many questions in regards to
*do you watch the show anymore?
*is it as good now as it was before

Curious questions. I think Cramer burned a lot of people during the speculation frenzy and it's sudden bust and it's coming to bite his ratings.
