I have a Wellstrade account. Usually I get my trades for $9.95, but penny stocks make me pay a much higher commission. Does this happen to anyone else with their discount brokers? It's really pissing me off. I'm thinking about getting into DTNK, but it costs me near 30 bucks!
Thanks,
MR. GF

Since penny stocks are not readily available in all exchanges except otc, pink sheets, and bulletin boards, they require more work to buy and sell. Scottrade does the same.

from First Trade's website....
"$6.95 - Unlimited Shares
For stocks at or under $2.00 and trades over 5,000 shares, add 1/2 cent per share for the entire order."

Thanks for the help. I may in fact switch now. Any downsides to First Trade?

One more thing as well. Has anyone transferred brokerage accounts. First Trade says it takes about 2 weeks. If I were to change from my WellsTrade account, does anyone know if I would still be able to trade during those two weeks? Has anyone done this before?

First Trade sounds just plain stupid.
I have Scottrade, I'm pretty pleased with them.
E*trade sounds like a good deal for this, and my buddy has TD Ameritrade. I think he has $9.95 flat fee.

It took me about 10 days or so to transfer, and yes it was forzen so I coudn't trade during that period. The securities transfered first, then my cash balance followed a few days later.
GL with First Trade.
