Looking for things to do and places to eat in Long Island, NY...

I'll be there for work later this week and weekend and If anyone is from there, where's some good places to eat or some things to do around there? I'll be busy during the day, so it'll have to be something that is open after 5pm. I've already searched on beermapping.com and found a couple brew pubs that I'd like to visit. Or, if there's anything in the city that's going on, I may go there one night or two.

I grew up on Long Island, and still hang in NYC frequently.
Long Island is a bigger place than it appears, if I gave you places to eat in Greenport and Island park they'd be hours apart. Can you narrow it down to a town? Or Nassau or Suffolk county?
A warning on Long Island traffic. It takes twice as long to go from place to place than a map might suggest, and longer if it's near rush hour.
If you're going into the city, you may also want to be more specific, as to what type of food, or activity, and price etc.
