So (this is not a spam messagea or anything) what is teh best overall online trading site you would recomend? I plan on using only a few hundred to play around with and see how I do. Thanks alot.

I use E*Trade, but I have enough trades/balance to minimize my commissions, you need to find the broker that is the best for your situation and E*Trade may not be it. Good luck in your trading.

well I searched the ones I liked, and went for scottrade because of the way its set up and how it relates to me. I looked into currency exchange but that looks a little out of my league for right now.

I was disappointed that Scottrade did not allow transfers to/from my checking account.

I too use E*trade, but unless you have a nice portfolio or make alot of trades they are not very competitive on commisions..
I just wish E*trade would come around and get wireless access. Have been close to leaving them for that exact reason.

Just watch out for the other fees associated with trading penny stocks on Scottrade.

For penny stocks on scottrade it is $7.99 + 1/2% of principle so a $500 dollar purchase or sale would have roughly a $10 commision
