Actually "cowboy" George Jr is afraid of horses, and apparently the only photo of him on one was staged. Haven't seen it myself but Greg Palast spoke at a B&N the other day describing it, seems it was a stuffed horse given to him by a Saudi Sheik friend. In the public release photo they cropped it to just show him upclose in the saddle.

Also, he knows nothing about ranching. His "ranch" was in fact a former chicken farm bought by his handlers just before the '00 elections to tweak his rough & rugged image, make him look more downhome/working class. Image is everything, they know how to mold a personna. Folks took it for the real thing and fell for it hook, line & sinker. Frustrating.

We real texans know he all hat & no cattle and can smell his (the Bush teams) BS from miles away. The Bush family has always been Texas outsiders, HW Bush was from a social climbing Conneticut almost blue-blood background. Business connections were to spying & banking, not ranching. W isnt a bad guy, just a bit of a sad sack like a used car dealer with lots of charisma, but he is the last person in the US that deserves to be president. The fact he is means something is very very wrong in this republic, and that should be obvious to anyone using that 12lbs of mass atop their shoulders.

Fact is a lot of folks like him as a person, but dont realise he simply isnt qualitfied for the office. This is not a f*ing popularity contest, this man weilds enormous power & global influence. Why did the US fly out the relatives of Bin Laden the day after 9-11? The answer is simple because Bush was expecting something so we could go to war, and he was in on the conspiracy. I don't think he knew what was going to happen, but he shure knew to be out of range of the White House, as he was in Florida on 9-11. Some like to think this is just a coincidence.

I have no respect for Bush or his minions.........but I also feel that there is little difference between a Republican administration and the alternative. I also feel this country is heading in the wrong direction and I have little hope of seeing a reversal.
I am working diligently to free myself of encumbrances so I can leave this country and enjoy the years I have remaining in an environment that I have found to be more salubrious.

Norway, Iceland, and Australia are looking good Bold Piolot. Norway has had a huge trade surpluss that they've been investing with. There is a low population and they've had the best Human Development Index in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. They have huge oil reserves and most of their electricity comes from hydroelectric (dams). There are 10,000 US citizens living there. I definitely would like to visit there. The women are suppose to be beatiful. Lots of skiing and cold weather. They have lots of beautiful, natural scenery with pretty inlets (fjords), mountains, waterfalls, and glaciers. Oh yea, they're a neutral country without any fear of terrorists as a bonus!

Been there, done that Nathan, although it was a long time ago.....Norway that is.
I have traveled quite a bit and I have been looking for a sanctuary for a very long time. I finally found what I consider to be the ideal environment for me and that is in Argentina. I can live so much better there than I can here; the cost of living is much less, the people are great, the weather is great, my only problem is getting out of HERE ! That and the language. Mi espanol es malo y estoy muy viejo hombre !
Houses are not selling anywhere in this region. There have been homes for sale for well over 6 months in my area..........bummer !
Norway is very nice but it is expensive....in fact all of Europe is expensive...I know, I have looked. Even Spain is expensive today. I have friends in Argentina which helps immeasurably...going down there cold would be very daunting.
I don't know when of if I will be able to make the move......it is a goal that I am attempting to achieve. Time will tell if I am successful or not !

We have a place in Costa Rica. The Government is very into the ecotourism money and keep things a lot safer than some of the other small countries down there. My favorite place by far and the place my wife and I are likely to retire is Tasmania, the Island state in Australia. You can't beat the rugged terrain and the people are excellent and they speak english (sort of). Very tough for non-citizens to own property there though so you really have to be ready for the move. A couple of our friends did it 6 yrs ago and they love it. We visit 3 or 4 times a year but the trip from Philly is tough. I spent a bunch of time in Japan as well and really recommend it for a year or so if you want to get a serious culture shock, I wouldn't retire there though, too crowded for that.

Oh, and yeah....have been to Iceland. We have a friend in Reykjavik who we visited about 5 years ago. Very strange country......expensive and they are the descendants of the Vikings or Norsemen. A very unique language.
They have a very different philosophy...in Iceland, in the evening, the young people take over downtown Reykjavik and they terrorize older inhabitants who have the nerve to venture into that area. I cannot for the life of me understand how or why the law enforcement people there tolerate this but they do.
The fishing industry, which is and has been the mainstay of the economy is hurting.....it is a welfare stae with high taxation. Bad weather and high taxes pretty much complete what is not a real pretty picture there. Our friend escaped Russia to end up in Iceland.....a major improvement for her but not for me !

I haven't traveled to Australia or New Zealand but have had interaction with people who live there. I have a friend who lives in Brisbane ...we met in Colorado a few years back and he tells me things are more expensive there than they are here. Once you are on a fixed income, finances are a major consideration. My pensions do not increase with the cost of living. Again, From my experiences, Argentina is the best country I have found.

I am citizen this country. When I come here people help me with language. My children have no problem and talk very good. I have four languages and now when I learn english will be five.
