I for one am putting my money where my mouth is. Buying SU and XING every 0.50 down under $80 and $9 respectively. These are both two companies with very bright futures, in the short term, that are getting knocked down unjustly because of a bad tape. I'm considering taking a position in BHP as well. Enjoy the gift that is before you. I know I am.

The slide of commodities is unwarranted as the earnings from these stocks isn't coming from American demand; it's coming from overseas. What Bernanke and company do here has no relevence. Companies lke SU and BHP as well as XING (though it's not a commodity stock) are not even based in America.

Look at SU's revenue growth YOY and tell me where you can get that kind of growth elsewhere. BHP is just getting started when it comes to exporting uranium among other elements to China and XING is now subject to buying from the billions of ppl residing in China. Again, enjoy the dip as these 3 stocks are just fine and will outperform in the next 3 months.

They are trying to put a bottom on the USD, don't worry its temporary. Buying dips works great when the market is up, but as we know it's down. Having success shorting the crests, the flip/dark/dangerous side of the buying on dips. Playing with fire. Just keep it to the one day wonder hypes, like CATG today. Im already cashed out with a .35 cent swing today, which helps subsidize my gold and oil pigs.

This stock looks good for the foreseeable future. I mentioned somewhere in these threads that SU not only has the potent combination of increased output, lowered input costs, and a higher selling price for finished goods, but they also have the added benefit of a few construction projects that are both on schedule and on budget which should further increase output and lower average input costs when completed.

Consequently, not only is SU a short term play on earnings the next few quarters but it is a bona fide growth stock, like I've said on many occasions, whose future looks very bright.

CHEVRON SUPPORTS BIODIESEL We said goodbye to garage bands and then garage-invented computers, now, we'll do the same to garage-made biofuels, as mass availability begins to dominate the scene. Chevron Corporation, a U.S.-based oil company, has announced that is has taken a 22 percent investment stake in the first large-scale U.S. biodiesel facility, planned by Galveston Bay Biodiesel. GBB will have an initial production of 20 million gallons per year, representing a nearly 27 percent increase in total U.S. biodiesel production of 75 million gallons in 2005. The facility has the capability to expand operations to produce 100 million gallons of fuel per year. Smart move really. With the price differential between bio and fossil fuels offering a nice margin, a controlling position is what you'd expect from an oil company.

Chevron, Exxon find oil in offshore Nigerian block
Wed May 17, 2006 7:36 AM ET
LAGOS, May 17 (Reuters) - U.S energy major Chevron (CVX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and partners including Exxon Mobil (XOM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) have made a first discovery of crude oil in an exploration block 70 miles (113 km) off the Nigerian coast, Chevron said on Wednesday.

Chevron said in a statement the partners struck oil in the Uge-1 exploration well in Oil Prospecting Licence (OPL) 214. The well, under 16,831 feet (5,130 metres) of water, was drilled down to a depth of 4,144 feet below the seabed.

"This discovery is a further demonstration of how we are achieving superior success from a focused and high-impact exploration programme," Chevron President John Watson was quoted as saying in the statement.

Chevron is the third biggest producer of crude oil in OPEC member Nigeria, Africa's top exporter.

"Chevron is pleased with the success of the well and believes the discovery will help enhance its already strong position in Nigeria and West Africa," the statement said.

The firm's local subsidiary, Chevron Nigeria Deepwater B Ltd has a 20 percent interest in the block, which is operated by Exxon Mobil's Nigerian unit Esso, with a 20 percent stake.

The Nigerian subsidiaries of ConocoPhillips (COP.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and Occidental Petroleum Corp. each have 20 percent in OPL 214, while the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, a unit of the Nigerian state oil firm, holds 15 percent.

Sasol Exploration and Production Nigeria Ltd has a five percent stake, while state oil firm Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is the concessionaire of OPL 214.

Speaking of ethanol, SU already has a date marked for crushing corn. I think they said June, which is right on schedule (how rare is that?). They also have their own nat gas fields and you know all about their BOB oil sands. I know you like CVX but SU is better imo.

Get Total Access! House Democrats Take a Stand for U.S. Biodiesel
May 18, 2006

Washington, DC [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] In response to public demand for new direction and leadership to meet the energy needs of America's families, Democrats in the House of Representatives announced a plan to invest in America, grow our energy and establish energy independence. "This plan is homegrown and American-owned," said House Democratic Caucus Chairman James E. Clyburn. The plan, developed by the Rural Working Group, details the opportunities.

"The answer to our fuel crisis is growing in our fields. By investing in biofuels, we are not only making energy more affordable, we are also investing in rural America."

-- Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.), co-Chair of the Rural Working Group "The Rural Working Group's proposal includes practical solutions that will expand ethanol and biodiesel production and will make sure that Americans can find flex-fuel vehicles at auto dealerships and biofuels at local gas stations," said Agriculture Committee Ranking Democrat Collin C. Peterson (D-MN).

In the effort to energize America by letting the farmers fuel the nation's new energy independence, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, said "The answer is right here at home. From corn in the Midwest, to soybeans in North Carolina, to sugar beets in Minnesota, we grow the crops that can be converted into the biofuels that power our cars."

Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.), co-Chair of the Rural Working Group, suggests investing in our own country, rather than abroad. "The answer to our fuel crisis is growing in our fields. By investing in biofuels, we are not only making energy more affordable, we are also investing in rural America. Every dollar we invest in domestic biofuel production is a dollar that stays in America and creates good-paying jobs. It's a win-win situation for America."

Parts of Energizing America call for an increase of production in American-made biofuels by doubling the percentage of renewable fuels sold in America within six years, using biodiesel and cellulosic sources, such as switchgrass. We should extend tax credits for ethanol and biodiesel through 2015 and increase tax benefits to small ethanol producers.

The plan calls for increasing the percentage of "flex-fuel" vehicles that run on ethanol or gasoline. It proposes that in seven years, make 75 percent of all cars made in America flex-fuel cars. It suggests increasing the number of gas stations offering ethanol (E- 85) and biodiesel through new incentives and requirements.

The plan also recommends investing in biofuels research to make biofuel production more efficient and environmentally sound. It asks for cutting-edge research to develop new processes for turning other farm products, such as switchgrass and woodchips, into biofuels. And it urges R&D in new vehicle efficient technologies.

In closing, the report calls for federal incentives to build smaller ethanol and biofuel plants, to allow independent, locally owned facilities that produce biofuels to thrive, thereby improving our rural communities.

Well today cvx is better so far : ) I think su will see 80 again easy

Not before she sees $70. I sold today and will look to re-enter when it looks like a bottom. Rigth now she's in free fall as Iran just acquiesced to IAEA demands and that takes the $15 of risk premium per barrel out of crude's high of $75. When we get to $58-60 I'll get back in as it will have nowhere to go but up.

How far out?

It pains me to be seperated from SU. I developed a love affair with this stock. I'm sure I'll hold it again but not until I see oil clos to $60 or Iran says something crazy.
