View Full Version : Black Monday??
What do you guys think will happen on monday? will the market sink even more? Im feeling so dumb right now for buying stocks on Thurs, thinking I got in on a great deal, just to find my stocks sink even more on friday

I think you should look for reversal signals before buying; i.e., the candles and 20/50 day MA's.

Markets go up and markets go down. Don't worry too much. Most of the time you won't be lucky enough to buy at the bottom anyway. If you invested in great companies with solid balance sheets that appear undervalued and have the potential to continue growing earnings and revenues into the future, you should be OK no matter what happens on Monday. :)

I think the market goes back to what it did all of 2005 at this point. Everyone was banking on figuring out Bernanke. How many the-fed-is-almost-done pseudo-rallies have we had year-to-date? 5? 6? All I know is I've called most of them unwarranted but none was larger than this last one. Look for the market to be relatively flat once this sell-off is over by weeks end. You can buy gradually as different sectors will bottom before others. I think the oil sector is one you can take a look at. SU had a huge pullback friday and this is as low as she goes IMO. Look for 100 in a few months.
Good luck.

I just went to tighten all my stops and lo-and-behold, half my stocks are up 1.5-2% in AH trading. wtf?
So what do you all think? What's gonna happen. Yeah, yeah, we all know everything will be ok and the markets will continue to rise. But is there going to be another sell off monday? Where's the bottom?

OK here goes my reverse psychology, since I get it wrong so many times. I'm saying we go lower ( hoping it's going back up ) on Monday after a dead cat bounce in the morning that see's most stocks rising then falling again at the close.
Flat the rest of the week, then a gradual rise beginning again the next. The fastest risers will be materials and mining, followed by energy.
I'd avoid tech until later in the summer, when you'll be getting basement bargain prices.
Healthcare is at a bargain here.

I have tried this weekend to decode this Master Cramer observation I heard twice last week (and only by him): the dip was caused by major sell-offs by mutual funds...If this is true, then this "sector" will return to buy back what was sold off with a super high RSI (Sell high/buy low)...I suspect this buy-back-in will begin slow, tripping more and more mutual fund computers to jump back in until there will be a major surge up in the stock market...The problem with this point, I cannot verify how Master Cramer arrived at his observation...If someone subscribes to one of his newsletters, perhaps s/he would share any elaboration Master Cramer has made on his truly unique thesis all the yammering Talking Heads are missing with their otherwise usual 20/20 blinding hindsight...

Is anyone else noticing off-market action like this?

Don't rely too heavily on AH trading figures ! Often, the pps doesn't stand up to the opening bid or ask price.

Most of the pundits are saying this selloff may continue until such time as Bernanke and Co. give some indication they will pause in their never-ending prime rate raising. WTF knows what will happen, there are so many variables working in the market place that anyone who makes predictions is smoking pot and whistling Dixie. Pundits and Gurus.....the only thing that can be said about them is......sometimes they're right, sometimes they're wrong ! It has been my experience that you can toss a coin and better predict what will happen than listen to any so-called ANAL-YST !
Of course we have our own home grown variety of prophets.......and I would really like to know how their porfolios have done thus far this year. Personally, I think the dart throwing chimp was the best stock picker of them all........ TCG (The Chimp Guru)

BuyOnDips i kind of agree, real investors should hang in there if the're already in with solid companies but the short term reality is a classic buying op. Personally i wish i had an extra 30k to get in on about 20 stocks that look way oversold thanks to panicky sellers... the rebound may not be long lived but over the week we will see some return to 'normalcy', just the nature of things. Thanks to emotional sellers there's hot deals out there right now, across the board. Unusual situation & it wont last long ....
Pro's tell us to always have a cash reserve for this very reason. And for what you're tied to that's sunk, if you havent sold yet dont (unless you like throwing away money to feel more secure). Its a waiting game there, simple logic.
After this week i'd say gold, minerals & oil looks best unless you dont mind sweating it out. The dollar value dropping and inflation creeping in is going to affect stocks eventually, so plan for summer blues, which might likely linger well on into fall, winter, spring ....

Jim said on his radio show on Friday to "Look for minerals to begin rising in three days." I will make my first buy of KRY on Tuesday.

Thanks for the take. I like it when Master Cramer gives a time line.
