If I was a Rent-by-the-2-minute Talking Head for the Drive By Media, here is what I would point out about the market:
I do not recall where I saw this, but it seems to be something to note and that is the "Hampton Effect" in August: the deal is the Wall Street Big Shots head to their estates in the Hamptons and do not want to be bothered with the market
Okay, take a chart and look at August for years in the past and note dips occurring in August
S&P (http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=%5EGSPC#chart4:symbol=%5Egspc;range=5y;i ndicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcva lues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined)
Dow (http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=%5EDJI#chart2:symbol=%5Edji;range=5y;ind icator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalu es=0;logscale=on;source=undefined)
In sum, next summer, minus a "Katrina" or invasion, expect the market to be in a blahhhh mode until after Labor Day, dah
