Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what books to read regarding technical analysis of stocks. I am interested in learning about how to analyze the charts, and am looking for some good books to start out with. Bear in mind that I have to start with the very basics! Any suggestions?

"Stikky Stock Charts" is about as basic as you can get.

decent for intro into trendlines, support, resistance, etc.

Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, Steve Nisson

Here are some that I can recommend. I am myself relatively a newbie. Reading really helps. You can pick something from every book.....as long as you dont confuse yourself

1. Technical Analysis of Stock Trends by Robert D. Edwards and John Magee
2. Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets: A Comprehensive Guide to Trading Methods and Applications by John Murphy
3. Japanese Candlestick Charting Techniques, Second Edition by Steve Nison

I started with the following today. Not a book on TA but it seems pretty helpful already:

Trading in the Zone: Master the Market with Confidence, Discipline and a Winning Attitude by Mark Douglas

And then there are of course many different books going in depth a particular tool e.g. Elliot waves etc.

And for a quick reference, I find www.stockcharts.com and www.investopedia.com more than useful.

Hope all this helps!!

All the books in this thread are available in our bookstore (http://www.invest-store.com/onlinetradersforum/) that you can access from the menubar or by clicking here (http://www.invest-store.com/onlinetradersforum/).

We have books you can't get anywhere else, some great liquidation sales, and also our prices are usually lower than amazon.com.

We make a commission on the sales so if you order from there it helps support and grow this forum.

If you prefer amazon go there from this link (http://www.amazon.com/b?%5Fencoding=UTF8&site-redirect=&node=3&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325) and we make a commission! (OK, no more groveling.)

I am one of those members who got one of his ebooks and I would def recommend. It's a quick read and the best part is that it works.

I also read the WSE ebooks and found them to be quick and helpful.
I would say give them a shot.
