Anyone have a position in Jones Soda Co.?

Looking at Hanson's Natural one can see how the niche market in yuppie soda drinks/ quasi-sports beverages can really hit big...even though it isn't a new idea or anything.

Anyway, I was just in the store and really was impressed by the packaging on their products, both on the old-fashioned type soda drinks (with the unique, funky flavors) and on the more quasi-health related beverages.

I'm going to look more into the fundamentals of the company, their debt ratios, growth rate etc...suspecting an already inflated P/E (although maybe rightly so). Maybe the stock isn't all "valued out" yet?

Any thoughts or comments?

IBD did a nice big write up on Jones last week, saying they are expanding into the candy market, and also adding to thier various juice, funky soda lines. Seems like a good company from the article.

I just read a story about them in this weeks Barron's or the Monday Investor's business daily. I did a little research on it,but more needs to be done. Everything a saw looked pretty good.

Nice little bounce near the end of trading.

I wish I had pulled the trigger on it this morning but I talked myself out of it.

Leading Brands Inc. (LBIX) is another stock similiar to JSDA that I think has potential.

Hmm...interesting pick LBIX -- just did some reasearch on it, it looks really good. They bottle FIJI water, Hansen energy drinks, among other things.

I like companies like these -- huge potential and small market caps (only $40M!) -- this one looks like it has some huge potential.

Anyone know anything more on this?

And financenanc how did you come across it?

I came across JSDA while searching through "analysts recommendations" when doing research for Hansen's Natural on ETrade. At the bottom of the Key Ratios page, ETRADE lists all other companies in the sector (there were about 40) and I looked up about 15 of them up...and listed was Jones Soda (and Clearly Canadian---a company that is very, very low priced right now (had past problems and is now "restructured")...Jones rang a bell, as I've noticed the product in stores. High P/E as I said...but other admirable financials, such as earnings growth for the December quarter, low debt ratio, etc.

BTW....coincidentally, my daughters have been talking about this new water they had during a Spring Break trip, and it made a positive impression on them---FIJI brand water (!) and now we just saw it in our local, small "yuppie" store last week.
Interesting to see it mentioned in the post above.

.....Of course, I live in the Rocky Mountain States and tend to be behind on trends .... or so I'm told *- )

Perhaps Fiji brand water is already widespread, elsewhere?

Fiji wter has been around for a loooooong time. People really like it, but I have never tried it as it is way too expensive for my liking.

Never, EVER, buy a gapup to a new 52 week high. I'm wreckin JSDA dies somewhere between 9.75 n 10.00. Spekkin of HANS, anyone care to guess where the selling will stop on this stock? Is HANS one of the most grossly overpriced pigs on da planet? let's find out...shall we? :) But here be a clue. When it gets to $90 in May sometime lemme know whatcha think. Fokes is gonna be sooooprised when they see where HANS ends up but there is a veeeery difinitive clue on da 3 year chawt. WOW! No freakin way! Waaaaay. *-) :)

You know something BOOYAA? That's excellent advice and I'm gonna remember what the Boo said---Don't buy into a hyped-up 52 week high, if it's only the hype that's causing it.
I think there's more to Jones Soda though, and I'm looking into this one. Better to get in after a pullback.

Wish I was riding HANS to its pigged up price, though. I'd "ring the register" about now.

Mad Girl---Yeah...that was it: It was the square bottles that my daughters liked : ) They're 10 and 14.
SIGH.....girls.
