AMD is down a little less than 9% today to $32.40.
AMD is facing pressure after it issued a weaker-than-expected sales forecast on Wednesday. The chipmaker swung to a profit in the first quarter, benefiting from an 8% jump in sales and the spinoff of its money-losing memory chip unit.
AMD said Wednesday that it earned $185 million, or 38 cents a share -- 8 cents higher than the average analysts' EPS expectation, which called for AMD to earn 30 cents. Sales of $1.33 billion were in line with analysts' expectations

I'm not going to weigh in on timing but I will say that if your choices are between Intel and AMD I'd go with AMD. They offer a far better product, period. I have an AMD chip in my laptop and this thing flies. It's faster than the majority if desktop computers I've used and that number is pretty high.

No my computer nerd buddys told me AMD isnt gonna make some chip anymore that they had planned to and that Intel is coming out with a sweet new one thats gonna blow the doors off the AMD stuff. They were right before about 8 months ago when they said AMD's stuff back then would blow away Intels.

I like AMD and had it but it's hard to resist INTEL under $20.00.

Mark my words. Intel will be up 10-20% within 2 months.
Demoed a chip at E3 that blows anything AMD has away: faster, cooler, less power.
Signing contracts left and right even b4 the new chip (apple, dell, etc).
Positioned well for mobile, all things low-end, high-end multimedia, and now high end gaming.
This is a BUY, BUY, BUY.
AMD won't suck either...

Lets analyze this a little. Intel is trading at 14x earnings, AMD at 81x. If we use Cramers multiple limit of paying twice the growth rate (which, by the way, I think is riduclous and way too much in most cases), AMD would have to be growing 35% faster than Intel. AMD has a peg of 1.63, whereas Intel's is 1.23
Now, ok, for those of you that say "who cares about PEG's because its only analysts' expectations which are often wrong...:" Intels revenue grew 14% from '04-'05, which puts them at 1x growth. AMD's revenue grew 16% from '05-'04 which puts them at , yes, 5x growth. You must either be buying this purely as a trade or you must have some inside info to just paying up this much. BTW Intel is becoming a buy as well, next week we will see if it has bottomed or what.

We will see what Cramer has to say on his show in 1 1/2 hours about saying:
"Shame on you" to the sellers of AMD today on CNBC T.V. and said he would discuss AMD on the show in 1 1/2 hours.
