I once left this stock, but after the 2 for 1 split, I have seen this stock of mine jump $10. They predict this year will be a profitable as 2004 where it rose around $30. Cheers as I drink to the coffee drinkers addiction. Oh yeah I also own uranium stocks so maybe I'll get a glow in the dark coffee mug. :D

I was almost tempted to "the dark side" of Starbucks but decided to go with Panera Bread.
I heard Cramer talking about it then started noticing them around here (central Florida). Actually found a Panera nearby and stopped in. It's GREAT and I was hooked. Great food, bread and pastries and very reasonable, not like the overpriced coffee at Starbucks. I still like Starbucks though as they are going to China soon but glad I went with Panera 1st.
I think both of these stocks will do good in the long run.

The P/E on Starbucks is really high compared to everything else out there...but I guess that's because it's expected to continue w/its earnings/business growth (China, etc.), non? Trades at a high multiple.
So, you don't think it's overvalued, yet? I might wait for it to pull back to buy---it does happen!
I read the other day that the name "Starbucks" might soon appear in a major movie title (starring Tom Cruise, at that.) Think the title was something corny like "My Life Before Starbucks" That sounds good for a quick pop in the stock---not that it needs any more hype to push it ahead, when it seems to have taken on a "legitimate" life of its own.

Starbucks is expanding. I heard they want to challenge McDonalds for being the largest fastfood/coffee/ chain

Coke will try and will fail, McDonalds will try and fail. Yes it is expensive but they will be in China, they have a new brew developed from Africa, and the CEO said they will expand by over 2,000 stores. And yes they have good returns from their Hawaii stores. They purchased a warehouse in an area hurt by a company that moved out. Since they are moving in the economy for that area is picking up. Think about it. They are in most major grocery chains, gas stations, airports, military bases, bookstores (Barnes and Noble), and I've seen them with independent stores. Since their last split in Oct 05 they have gone from $20 a share to $37 currently. They are everywhere and profitable. You cannot ignore that for long. Drink up and smell the java beans! ;)
