Investing is fun and challenging. Here is my take on the irony that confuses our government.
1) The price of oil controls the dollar. As oil goes up, the USD goes down. So we have inflation. The feds are pretending like they can control this with rate hikes while they're simultaneously printing 8% more USD's per year. Maybe they want inflation so it will be easier to pay back a 700 billion dollar debt per year. This doesn't work because other countries are printing more money right along with the US.
2) The unions crippled our car economy in the US.
3) We promote world trade while we're in a big deficit, but we want to protect our borders. For example, the Dubai ports scandal and the felony for illegal immigrants who do 20% of our labor cheaply...DUh
4) We promote clean air while we want bigger cars and no nuclear reactor plants. We'd rather spend trillions on war than spend a billion on researching better ways to get rid of nuclear reactor wastes.
5) For many years, there has been a middle class crunch. We give free money to the lazy, stupid people through welfare, and we make sure they replicate their dumb, lazy genome by telling them, 'if you have babies you'll get on welfare even if you're only 14'--what ignorance!!! We hire cheap illegal immigrants to work for us. Education is super expensive, so we take in well educated foreigners. The middle class has two choices. Either go on welfare or go in debt big time to get educated to compete for jobs with these foreigners who went to school for less.
6) The US is a democracy that is run by idiots because, on average, Christians are very gullible. Bush is in office again because he got automated machines to call all Christians telling them, via his voice, to say that he was against gay marriages and he was pro life.
7) Our government has two ways to promote our arrogant capitalism on the world, so they will be willing to go in debt for our worthless bonds. One way is to export hollywood movies to show the world that the US is great. The other is to go to war to show the world our capitalism is powerful. As long as the rest of the world is as easily duped as our Christians are--doubtful, it will work.

I think the point was the current government in the US is terrible, not the US itself.

Throw your thoughts out even in this "market place"
If I don't like something, I just move on, because a particular thought might be meaningful to someone
I would make a lousy censor :)

I think the point was the current government in the US is terrible, not the US itself.
if that was the point, then that proves my point. last i checked, this was an investment forum not a political one. thought we were to be talking about investing, stocks, cramer, etc. last i checked, the market is rolling along pretty good, up near 5 year highs. fed may be keeping inflation in check, and maybe we go higher from here. the economy is not tumbling. if you disagree, then talk about economic issues, not political ones.
secondly, that isn't the whole point. this moronic poster insulted the middle class and christians, of which i am both. i'm not on welfare or in any debt, so there are more than 2 choices out there nathan. secondly, to say that on average the entire Christian religion is gullible, is total nonsense and will be called out. and finally, if you're doubtful that it will work, then as i stated before, please leave. all this terrible gloom and doom here, why would you stay??

I believe in capitalism. I just don't believe in our present leadership here. I've heard Cramer talk about the Dubai Ports thing on his radio show. He said it was stupid for us to not have an open relationship with other countries. He said that they have a lot of money and that now they will invest elsewhere like Saudi Arabia or gold because we thumbed our nose to them. Have you ever watched the Squawk Box on CNBC? The government affects the economy we're investing in.
I stand up to Christians now because we need to be smarter when we vote. If I pushed your buttons, I'm glad to make you think. Please don't be so close-minded about our leadership in future. It would be nice if we could have a leadership that affected our economy in a good way. Bush has tried to do some good things like the clean air act, and he tried to get more money for nuclear waste research through congress, which they reduced in half. I believe the Dubi Ports thing should have went through too. The congress turned this down because they didn't want to lose votes. I know this is controversial, but we can't act prejudice as a whole country and expect to keep trading in our favor without consequences. Yes we should protect our borders, but we shouldn't put all Middle Easterner's in a terrorist view.
Investingmoron, putting me in the class of terrorist shows your stubborn prejudice attitude, as does your flag. This kind of view is hurting the world economy.
Thierry Martin, I appreciated your comment.

I didn't insult middle class at all. On the contrary, I supported it.
The highs I remember were in 2001. I was watching a ticker then. There were many swings of belief between Gore and Bush winning. Whenever the news said Gore was going to win, all the stocks turned green. Whenever the news said Bush was going to win, all the stocks went red. It happened at least 5 times. Christians believed in Bush, but investors didn't.

Guess we have to separate church, state and economics eh ? It seems to me that every time someone comes out with a dissenting viewpoint there are those who jump up and down and yell...."if you don't like it here, why don't you leave"? Well I for one intend to do just that, not because I am a terrorist but because I can live elsewhere for quite a bit less money. Living on a fixed income in this country has become very difficult unless you have salted a great amount of money away. Besides that, I agree with my NC cousin that all is not right in this country. I was born and raised here but it is difficult to recognize what was once my homeland. I fought in Korea which was a useless "police action" and I have since seen nothing but a series of conflicts that are equally futile. The devisiveness that you witness in just this thread is indicative of the entire country......so when you say, love it or leave it...... I say adios amigos so I guess that makes me a "dissenter". I would much rather read political comment than some creep who imagines himself the last word in contrarianism. Is that a word ? Maybe a better word for it would be contrariness. LOL !

maybe Thierry could create another section called "Off-Topic" so this type of stuff could go there, rather than in "users own stock ideas" section.

I am a Cuban immigrant from 1969. I was only 7 years old but my family went through very hard times back then and were taken advantage of. Religion and politics are two very sensitive issues for me, but that I love to debate. As I see it, Americans have 3 choices. They either vote Democrat, Republican, Indepedent or actually a 4th choice is to not vote all at. I am a proud Republican Catholic with conservative values. Democrats and Independents are too liberal for my taste. As I recall, the economy flourished under Clinton as is with Bush. Clinton nor Bush did or have done much about illegal immigration or protecting our borders. Sure we had a surplus under Clinton, but Bush has had to deal with much bigger issues so spending has had to increased, so now we have a defecit. I don't play the blame game. No matter who's president, it all comes down to individual economics. Under Clinton my finances were a disaster and now under Bush I'm doing great finacially. Am I going to blame or give credit to them? Nope. I got myself in my mess and I got myself out. I've own my business for 19 years, through both Clinton and Bush's administrations. Is my business successful because of Clinton or Bush? Nope. Some people may find it strange, but if you charge a fair price, give customers great service and ACTUALLY SHOW UP ON TIME you can have more business then you can handle. Did Bush or Clinton help me learn technical analysis? LOL Nooooooooooope. I actually learned on my own by reading books and surfing the web. Am I going to count on the government to collect social security? Haaaaaaaaaaaa. I'm building my own retirement through stocks and real estate. Am I going to count on the government when another hurricane strikes Miami? Noooo. Have I used the race card when I didn't get my way? Absolutely not. Is gasoline too expensive? Heck yeah. But I own a mid size SUV and take shorter trips. BTW, a gallon of milk is over $3. Wasup wit dat? Isn't it easier to milk a cow then to refine gasoline? In other words.........
I AM NOT A VICTIM

Go to the Control Panel. I think you can Ignore someone if you cannot just move on. If you think Mr. Lloyd is headed for hell, isn't that between him and whatever? Move-on, gawd! If you don't, this forum will turn as nasty as Yahoo's forums. Stop it now! Argue or accept a point with manners, or just simply move-on. Oh, if I think someone's investment ideas are plain stupid, I am perfectly satisfied letting the stock market decide and don't waste time with ignorant people who are proud to be ignorant. I long ago learned trying to teach a pig to sing only pisses off the pig and frustrates you. If Mr. Lloyd's ideas are wrong headed then he will pay where it hurts: to wit, his pocketbook.

I didn't intend to disrespect others' opinions. I respect Christians/Jews/Muslims. I said it was my take meaning it was my opinion. Don't hate me for it. I'll stay clear of comments like certain people are gullible. That was based on my biased view. I grew up as a Christian. I just got a BS degree in Biology at UNC. I took a class in sociology, and the Dr./Professor told me that having immigrants in our country doing cheap labor was really good for our economy. I didn't believe this at first either, but there were statistics presented to me to back this up. TCG congrats on your success...I'm glad this country has given you the opportunity to succeed.
I'm studying books too, and I'd hate to be ignored by others over this. My Christian parents tolerate me still even though I tell them I'm an athiest. :) I also want our economy to succeed. I'm going to be investing in it for years to come. I think our government could do better that is all. If it doesn't do better, there are always shorting and commodities to invest in. :)

Good morning N.L....
My take, we are all allowed to voice our opinion, unfortunately to the surprise of many, the consequences of that voice can be rather harsh & severe.......so what, life goes on, get angry if you must, defend your opinion if you have to or just keep it to yourself...
The way I see it, liberal democrats are the perfect passive aggressive, co- dependent victim. For some odd reason they just can't seem to accept the fact that most of them are doing pretty darn well and in fact are searching for the reasons of success when in fact it is right before their eyes..........it is pure unadulterated capitalism coupled with the passions of the human spirit. Henceforth, following their reason, if I am doing well then I must have taken from someone else and therefore someone else is suffering because of my success, so in a sick co-dependent logic... it is not right that I am doing well and because I am not doing well nobody should be doing well...rather sick isn't it...glass is always half empty...
Just turn on the news on any station and all you see is bad news, ya know... the world is coming to an end kinda stuff...
Now on the other hand, the conservative right... for the most part are a bunch of hypocrites and g'men I speak from experience as a former associate pastor... As a Christian and a supporter of El Presidente, I believe the republicans are very confused, but it shall be short lived for this 1 and only fact... as foolish as the southern baptist convention and Pat Robertson and convicted catholic pedophile priests can be, at the very least we see the " glass half full " and that dear Nathan, my fellow Carolinian, is called hope and in the end Hope always wins.
The reality is if I had known back in 98 that the democrats would be so pissed off and angry and spew all this passive aggressive behaviour , promoting hatred and intolerance in the name of anything red white and blue well, I would have voted for Al Gore ( the screamin one ) just to avoid all dis crap...
On a humorous note... I noticed the dems really, really got angry after Texas beat USC for the National championship... that was a good one... I was actually hoping for a Texas/ UCLA BB matchup, but hey, a Florida /UCLA game should be just as good, I can just hear all the conspiracy nuts goin crazy if FL wins, it's the 98 elections all over...
The reality, Man I don't give a $hit over the politics and cultures of this country... I would much rather rise above it, Nate... Life is way, way, way too big for any one man, personality, race, politics or culture, cuz in the end it all flows downhill.
Does God have a plan, I know he does, but I think for the time being He or She or it or Allah or the Eternal or Da Vinci or Buddah or Rev. Moon or whatever the hell is in fashion now... I personally think God is just rollin on the floor w/ laughter on how we, his creations try everything and do anything under the sun to justify our own crap... cuz it's pretty funny...
Want a good stock book... read Ecclesiastes...
If ya needs more I can spew tons of theology all over da board...

Nathan, I certainly don't hate you or anyone in this forum. This is a great group. You just had to vent and express your views about the economy. The government can always do better, but it wouldn't. It is a very ineffecient machine. That's why we must take care of ourselves and not let the government take care of us. I agree with Pilot that our America of today is not the same of 50 years ago and America will not be the same 50 years from now. I think one way that our economy can flourish is with the so called Fair Tax. I haven't heard it debated so I don't even know if it's for real. But it makes sense to tax spending instead of taxing a worker's income.
Perhaps is my religious believes that lets me see the glass as half full or an overcast day as partly sunny. If you believe in the first Commandment, then life is all goooooooood. Why whine and complaint about anything else :) It's another beautiful day in south Florida. I'm going to Mass now and going to spend some time praying to the Big Guy. I'll pray for Nathan and everyone in this fantastic forum, including Cramer LOL. So if anyone here feels a little jolt of goodness or blessing later today, you'll know that the Big Guy heard my prayers. God bless all of you and God bless America
