April 2006-

1 - Pick 3 stocks you think will have the best % gain from the first trading day of the month to the last trading day of the month.

2 - One stock must be over $100; one stock must trade between $50 -$99.99; and one stock must trade between $5 & $49.99.

3 - The open price on the first trading day of the month & the closing price on the last trading day of the month will be the 2 numbers used to find the % gain.

4 - The 3 stocks % gain/loss will be added together and then divided by 3 to find the average % gain.

5 - You may only have 1 of the same stocks as other members; members can not have 2 of the same stock picks, first come first served.

6 - All picks must be in before the opening bell on the first trading day of the month.

(The following rule has been removed after discussion by the players:
7 - If one of your picks performs a split during the month it will be disqualified which means you will only have 2 stocks and would not be eligible for first place.)

Why rule #7?? Was that always there?

It's an easy calculation to adjust the stock price for a split - what kind of rule is rule #7? Why penalize someone for a split?

If someone else wants to run the game they can change rule #7. It is a rule I use for my monthly games and I have seen other games on other sites also use the same rule.

Anyone who wants to take this game over and make up there own rules go right ahead, or start another game with different rules. I am just hosting this game until someone else takes it over.

I know it is a simple math calculation; I just don’t have the extra time since I host more then just this game. If I was getting paid I would put in the extra work.

If the first slot was 0-50 then people would play penny stocks and this is not a penny stock site. Englishman is going to run the game and I think he is going to change rule #7. If you want to play in games that allow penny stocks just email me and I will point you in the right direction. I don’t see the problem with rule 7 since this is just a game and investors who follow the market closely know in advance when a stock will perform a split; the rule is unfair but so are a lot of things in life.

Effin' PWAV screwed it all up for me. Immediately after this contest started it took a sh!t on earnings and I knew I wouldn't even be a contender the rest of the month. When your best performer is your $100+ stock you know you're in trouble.

Anybody know what happened in the contest? I think I'm up 7% or so. I don't know how this compares to the field.
If the englishman would like, for future contests I'll put up a weekly update, I have plenty of free time and if I can figure out how to make one of Thierry's snazzy charts I am willing to help out. I wouldn't want to be in the position of making any rules or rulings, but can and will help out if asked.
