With gas and oil inventory in such short supply and with China and India demanding increasingly higher oil supplies, more and more attention is spent on alternative energy, I think there is a pent up demand in fuel cell technologies. It is a matter of time, people realize that fuel cells are a good alternative source. Take a look at HYGS (Hydrogenics). They just came off a high and just posted a warning that they cannot keep up with the demand in the production of such cell fuels and took a beating. But take a look at their backlog of such orders ...it is going to keep their production up. At a price of $3.16 today, I believe it is a good buy.

With gasoline prices projected to reach $3 a gallon by summer, the focus on fuel cells is not merely timely, but necessary," said Robert Rose, USFCC executive director. "Fuel cells can reduce reliance on imported oil and take the automobile out of the environmental debate. Hundreds of buses, cars, and off-road vehicles and dozens hydrogen fueling facilities are proving feasibility around the world today. Here in the US, the industry has launched pre-commercial fleet demonstrations, aiming for commercial readiness in the next decade."

Alternative energy sources should be totally independent of gas and petrol sources. You mentioned diesel alternatives, it is still a by-product of gas. I do not like the fact that those Arab countries are controlling the oil supplies and the West have to kow-tow to their demands and such high gas prices. I wish the day is here where the reliance on oil and gas is not as great, and see the power wielding oil producing countries see their oil prices drop !!!! That's the reason why monies should be poured into companies producing alternative fuel sources such as hydrogen generators and fuel cells which HYGS is top in their field.

Fuel cells and hyd generators still produce waste. With a system like bio-diesel you are actually recycling used veg oil or makeing more demand for ag. products such as soy or the jatropha plant. check out EBOF
I like PBW. An ETF that holds all the major alternative energy players. It has been very good to me, so far this year.

Highschool kids made this car that goes from 0-60 in 4 seconds, has a mpg of 50, and runs on soybean oil. What is up with the car companies.
Some people are using waste vegetable oil from restaurants to run their diesel engines.

I have done it, and its not rocket science, that is the funny thing!! The local Taco bell has offerd to give me all the oil I can handle. And so will any fast food co that pays to have there "waste" removed...... (DIESELSECRET.COM)
There are several companys in my area that have been making there own for awhile now and are considering planting soy and proudcing there own just to cut the "man" out of the picture. Although I can guess that there will be some major changes in this process. I own a asphalt co and would love to be able to produce my own fule in my own backyard for a proffit to my co. let us all see how this pans out but yes it is possable to make bio-diesel from used veg oil.......................

Yesterday, I read about a company in Germany that just hooked up their one million kilowatt solar system (might be a little high) to the public utility over there. I wish I could remember the ticker (something like EOD or EOS) but it was a little penny play that didn't move much on the news. It also has the plus side of being tangible rather than all this hype over ethanol which we won't see for months and I don't think will pan out. I'm sure we frequent the same sites so if you really wanted to you could find it.
