Where do they get this data? More importantly where can I find this data? I saw this on the screen on CNBC:

Dec 2016 $142.00

Dec 2013 $???

Dec 2010 $???

I forgot what all the prices were but you get the point. They were showing some prices years out. Futures contracts don't go that far out do they???? What was this data they were talking about and where did they get it?

The end of day data is available through the NYMEX website
www.nymex.com
Go to the session expanded table and you'll see all the contracts, they go out monthly for 5 years then June and Dec only up to 9 yrs out.
Here's the actual page for that but you may need to go through the disclaimer page to get to it.

Thanks so what this tells you is:

Someone is willing to pay 135.02 for oil in Dec 08

Someone is willing to pay 136.78 for oil in Dec 2012

So oil SHOULD rise above that price?
