This company seems undervalued to me. They have had a recent stock buy-back, and contracts are starting to pick up significantly, including with Comcast last week, as well as large orders from Japan and Brazil.

I like this stock under 8 and I look for it to gap back up by the end of the year to at least 16 where it was trading last year before the merger with C-Cor. Not a high-beta stock, but the chances of significant growth are very good IMO.

May 21 (Reuters) - Friedman Billings Ramsey upgraded communications technology firm Arris Group Inc (ARRS.O: Quote, Profile, Research) to "outperform" from "market perform" based on the brokerage's increasing confidence in the timing and economics around the deployment of the company's new cable technology.

The brokerage alsoraised its price target on the stock to $12 from $9. The new cable technology, DOCSIS 3.0, can handle download speeds of up to 100 Mega Bytes per second -- significantly higher than current average speeds.

Analyst Brian Coyne said pricing, volumes, timing, and other key terms of Arris's supply agreement with Comcast Corp (CMCSA.O: Quote, Profile, Research) for the DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem termination system (CMTS) are firmly established.

Operators, including Time Warner Cable (TWC.N: Quote, Profile, Research), plan to move ahead with DOCSIS 3.0 CMTS upgrades in 2009, Coyne said.

"We think this can provide an additional boost for Arris revenues next year," he said.

Shares of Arris closed at $8.02 Tuesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Bhaswati Mukhopadhyay in Bangalore; Editing by Pratish Narayanan)

Heading down some in the afternoon (along with everything else). I see this as a long term play, but the instant rise was gratifying. :)

Anyone else play this one? It's up over 16% in a week. Woohoo!
