Rules

1. stock priced between 2.00 - 5.00

2. volume of no less than 100k daily

3. entry price must be achieved during daily market 9:30 - 4:00 times (no pre market or after hour prices allowed)

4. no cramer picks from friday's show

5. one ticker per forum member

6. a ticker can be used once per challenge - if you want to use the same ticker for next week you must call it first after Friday's market close (4:00 est)

7. once an entry and ticker is selected and posted, there is no changing the entry or ticker.

8. entries for next challenge opens at Friday's market close (4:00 pm EST) and closes at midnight Sunday (12:00 pm EST)

What to heck? Let's go catchin falling knives agin this coming week. My pick, formerly FWHT, now trades under da symbol MIVA. Currently well below all means of visible support. In fact, the last major support was at 4.65 so this one could go dumpster divin this week and it needs to since the OBV ainna near anywhere low enough to suit my tastes. Let's see if I can pick er up at da lower end of my entry tawget. No guts, no glory! MIVA @ 2.90 for the entire $6418 bankroll Bob! :)

OK, so you can play sub $2 dawgs as long as you enter them at $2 of higher, I did not know that! It opens up a whole new world of options fo me :) I also assume you can play a stock that closed Fri at say 5.05 as long as you enter it at $5 or less....is that correct?

If you read the rule and take it for what it says in a literral sense your stock must be priced between $2 and $5 to even qualify for entry. CTIC is not priced between $2 and $5 as of right now. I personally hope the rule is changed because then it brings stocks into the competition that are priced as low as $1 and as high as say $8 if you are good enough to be able to guage when a stock is going to mount a strong rally or a gapdown decline...of course that gives some fokes an advantage since they are able to do dat....not mentioning any names though. :)

Rule #1 says: Stock priced between $2 and $5....CTIC isn't priced between $2 and $5, is it?!! LOL I think Jacob modeled this game after the one I am running at da little dawg track. If that's the case I'm sure he meant the stock needed to close between $2 and $5 on any given Fri to qualify for next week's race. But like I said...I like yer interpretation better since it means a stock like EGHT has a chance to win even when it is trading below $2. whatever rule changes you decide to make I hope you stick by em. If you allow CTIC in I expect you to allow other sub $2 stocks in for future challenges. :)

Well I don't think I'm changing the rules although I can see it can be interpreted either way. As it doesn't specifically state that it's the close, and it does specifically state the entry, then I think that this is the right way to interpret it. I think there was at least one incidence of a +$5 stock being picked with a $5 entry before.

What's the reason for this? Do you know off hand? I didn't exhaust every source of info I have at my disposal but MSN nor Yahoo! aren't showing anything except an 8K last week. Did they hit pay dirt or something? Maybe an upgrade from some analyst or even admitted to the AMEX instead of Bulletin Board?

Well this company is expanding and getting a hold of a position in the oil sands world but it takes major events to convince traders/investors that that is happening continually even though it really is.

The last week there has been rumors that they're going to announce a partnership. See the smaller pop from 4.60 to 4.80 last week - that's when it started and that's when I bought. It then went dead but when the volume started to come in on friday I knew it was going to be big today (hence the weekly pickers selection) (I thought it would stall at 5.50-5.70 though.).

Once the deal is announced it will go to $7-8 but if the deal doesn't get announced soon then it will re-trace much of this and we'll get another chance to buy in. eg. as Booo"stock-god-to-himself"yahooo said, it could be back at $5 by friday!

Volume still coming in at the end here so it'll keep going afterhours and into tomorrow. Maybe a reverse at 10am tomorrow but could also just keep ripping all week!

CWPC is just anudder classic case of an "idiot stock" being driven up cause it movin higher and fokes can't fode no overpriced pig like yer typical $10 energy stock that is trading for $50 :) It might even be over for CWPC today, we'll have to see how da chawt sets up on that 6.18 closing price. Kind of a weird numba to top out at...but you will have yer $5 entry hit fo Fri. *-) I doubt that Cramer will pump an OTC dawg, but I wouldn't put it past him. It's looking overbought, but gotta have guts to ride this one until the trend turns. Made $2400 real money since Friday.

I'm wondering what that idiot that paid 4.49 yesterday was thinkin. The stock jumped from 4.26 to 4.49....I watched it trade. It was either a false trade, sumbody got caught putting in a market order when all limit buys at 4.25 were filled and there was only one person left with a limit sell in and it was set at 4.49, or GNBT is telling us exactly where the top is. :) It won't be the winner this week. In fact, the winner this week is probably going to get extremely lucky after they were extremely unlucky early in da week so far. That's basically what 70% of a 1 week stock picking contest is anyway....sheeeeeeer luck! :) Except that MIVA thingy of course. If that thang hits da tawget and wins it'll be a tad mo than luck I would venture to say. *-)

So if you see CWPC hangin in there early and then running befo noon to ultimately take out da high....I promise that you will be sorry if you buy at $5 when it gits there. Way oversold and very well may see $2.50 - $2.75 early tomorrow morning, but the longs will bring this one back over $4 before close tomorrow afternoon.
If it drops below $2.75 I'm backing up the truck for at least another 10k shares.
The best way to make money in this crazy market is to buy oversold stocks , then sell them into strength. Yeh that happened today, but GNBT is still on the way to $7 and more.
Many investors forgot what really makes this company valuable - patents and their pipeline products. Oral-lyn will be it's main catylist, gains from development of bird flu vaccine are just secondary

Had a nice 23 % pop on Monday, dropped a lil yesterday and mostly flat today, up a hair. Would still be up 17% for the week if had set qualifier just a cent higher.

All I bees know is dat 5.02 goes away....sumday. :) Now it bees a guessin game fer most on just when that happens. I heard sumbody else say dat da 13 day moving ave line is da place to look. I guess that's at like 2.75-2.80, sumthin like that. Unless it takes a week to get there of course...then it falls to 2.50-2.60 I'm wreckin since this stock shot up like ole Oral-Lynn was woikin it over since ya mentioned de ole gal. I realize "long standing patents and strong development and research leading to a healthy product pipeline" means alot ta summa yas. But ta me it means jack! *-) Why did GNBT fall from grace at 5.00 instead of say 3.00? I mean...if ya look at da chawt it went from peanuts to bloated pig quicker than chit through a bird flu infested goose! Is there anythang majical about da numba $5? I think so. I also think it be damaged goods for now so I'll just sit back and watch everybody try n figure it out from here since I already told ya the price I would consider buying it for....and not befo then either *-) The funny chit about da whole dabacle was that we went form a bunch of idiots touting the inevitability of bird flu hittin and why they will make a killing to fokes tawkin bout how they was lucky to get out with their stop at 4.66 at various stock discussion sites. I had 8700 real GNBT at open this morning after just getting in last Friday at $2.87. Sold 3700 @ $4.89 at about noon when failed to hold the break above $5.00, locking about 7k in profit.
Where I screwed up was buying 4500 shares back at $4.50 before 3pm thinking day traders were closing positions for the day and might regain between 3 and 4. Ouch, what a killing I'm taking on that move. That was a $12,160 drop in real money in less than an hour, now down over 5k.
What killed me was my Broker's system (USAA) was down between 3:05 and 3:55 today. I use their touchline trader over the phone to make trades and could'nt get in,message kept saying service not available at this time and attempts by my wife on home pc yielded same results.What a helluva time to go down, is their any liability to them I am seeking to find out? By the time they got it back up just before close I had already been slaughtered.
Still in with 9500 shares, looking for a better day tomorrow and possibly buying more to lower net cost per share, dang, what a delimma.

I bought and sold CWPC several times this week (in real money.) Would have made more if I'd just held it. I believe this could be a $35-$40 stock by next year. Very exciting. Risky definitely so that's why I'm jumping in and out.

A guy I know descibed owning CWPC as like being a desert island withthe woman of his dreams. And she bought six of her best friends. And they're all naked!

CWPC was clearly the best pick of the week even if it missed qualifying by $0.01 on Monday. It went up from $5.01 and never looked back, up as high as $7.97 today. Closed +48% for the week. Awesome !!

The 7.97 trade wasn't very real in terms of what you could really sell at. But the close at 7.42 does indeed give 48%. I didn't get some of that in real money as I had what i call "panic gaps" in the middle there somewhere! Boooo's constant booooing didn't help!

I know Cramer says not to love a stock, but I'm definitely in lust with CWPC. I dumped her a few times but everytime I felt empty without her and each time I let her back into my life I felt fully satisfied!

My pick for next week in LVCP - but that's nowhere near the stockpickers range so I'll have to find something else.

I'm surprised no-one mentioned LVLT this week - that's been on a nice run and I would have bought some yesterday if I wasn't so tied up in CWPC, BCON (now sold) and VPHM.

Good luck to you, but my gut says GNBT will be back over $5 and maybe even $6 by Friday, but my tolerance for the risk makes me too shaky to pull that trigger.

I moved a good deal of my real money back into ANAD this week and look to park it there for awhile. I bought that one back last August @ $1.87 and have been accumalating on the dips. It got another upgrade today to strong buy and I look for more of the same before next month's 1st quarter earnings report. Not in the range for the contest here, but looks good for the real money. Constantly coming out with new product and narrowing losses, should be profitable in 4th quarter. I say $9 by then, and $12-$15 24 months out.
