Lets play the earnings game

I have been doing well playing the earnings game. Today i sold vrso as they report tonight and i bought the dip on TRBM who reports next week and they have already said they will show a profit. TRBM is a great trade if you can get it under 3.65 as it seems to run back to 4.10 quite often. Anyone else any earnings plays they would like to share?

I bought some SU call options when they dropped about $4 for no reason the day they reported last month...that was a nice trade. APPX had been dropping on low volume over a few weeks so call options in them led to an easy almost-triple on earnings day last week.

How about we short any stock trading at or near a 52 week high that reports great earnings and the stock price ramps on da news, like NVDA did for instance. Remember, earnings don't matter! *-)

You'll do better if you just short and hold NVDA with long term outta da muny puts. There's a chance it will match the high befo it comes crashing down. In da meantime you can short AKAM. It already went through the ramp on earnings news, hit da skids, retest the high dance. Now it can just outright crash and boin. *-)

I'm hoping MRVL spikes up tomorrow so I can buy some puts in this. And while we are on the subject, I wonder when that bloated mess SNDK reports again; that company needs to drop another 20-30 points.

AAUK - earnings even, guided even, stock goes up 4%

I can only conclude that earnings don'y matter!

I might gamble on BEAS tomorrow. They report after the bell. They already preannounced good earnings. The stock jump to $11.20 when they preannounced a few days ago. It's back down to $10.35 after hours tonight. It might pop some if the outlook is favorable.

I have had AKAM since 26.39 and it is now 27.31. That is not a great profit, but are you saying get out of it now before it falls?

Yeah I bought AAUK on that pullback day gold had last week. I think it can get into the high forties sometime later this year.

I've heard rumblings about TRBM elsewhere. I hate playing the earnings-gambling game though. I've never won.

I've had a bad month. I hate earnings season I'm close to creating a rule that I don't trade a stock through earnings - EVER.

Sometimes the way a stock trades the day before earnings is a clue. Insiders let enough rumor spread that it moves the stock. We're too far on the outside though. TRBM earnings call after tuesday's session. If it trades up on tuesday then I might consider it. Down then no way.

Earnings do matter when it's a high profile company. Even then, look at the way GOOG bounced straight back to where it started the day after it earnings call. Hype is more important and really it comes down to the simple fact that a stock trades at what people are prepared to pay for it!

I have found the best way to play the earnings game is to look for companys that put out news that they will be reporting a good qtr. like trbm did. Then i try and buy at support and i sell before the earnings come out. In this case i may hold some l/t as this company looks like they are going to get alot of the new wireless business in the future. Check the chart trbm has been real nice to trade 3.60 to 4 plus several times. Good luck

Very nice play on earnings TRBM will be next as i think wireless is the future. Looking for more wireless plays if anyone has any they would like to share but right now i adding to trbm for tue. earnings and looking for 4.10 then 4.76. Good luck

Nice call on earnings let me know if you find anymore. VRSO was nice but im out and added to TRBM as they are trying to hold it down. Just love to trade trbm you can just see whats going on and every time they try and hold it down sellers come in sweet. Needs to get thru 3.85 imo and then we will see 4 plus.

I got in TRBM at the close on Friday and hope it does see 6 this week. I finally sold my CWPC also on Friday at the close to help pay for the TRBM. CWPC went up 22% since I bought it. Hopefully TRBM can be a big gainer too.

What do you think about DWOG? Do you know if they will be putting out any news soon? I bought in at 2.33 and have just sort of been holding and waiting to see what will happen, hoping for some news to come out and it to rise.

Im still holding dwog too and will hold 1/2 of this one long term. I hope they can work out a deal with china or india otherwise some good drilling news would get it going again imo.

Yeah the market was horrible today. I noticed TRBM had fallen and posted about it, but right after that, almost every stock in my portfolio took a big drop. Thank you for getting me on TRBM though. TRBM has come through at the end of the day and saved my day along with ASEI and a little help from CLWT.

You have helped me alot Chinaman with all of your advice. I have been successful with CWPC (22% gain before I sold), TRBM, and CLWT so far and I hope it continues. Also, hopefully DWOG will start to rise soon, it is the only one that hasn't risen yet.
