CNBC has been talking energy all morning 6am-8am and at 7:50 they did a story on the canadian oil sands. Quote-The real story is the canadian oil sands and the guest went on to talk about how the oil was brought up and who was involved--Shell, SU, many of the major players and a number of smaller players. 1 mil barrels a day coming from the oil sands and next year it will be 2 mil barrels a day and then 3. IMO the canadian oil sands are a great long term investment and they have been nice to trade too. Good luck

Agreed. Too bad the common man doesn't realize the details. For one, it's heavy sour, not light sweet crude that is eventually drawn out of all the clay and dirt. This stuff is really only good for diesel, not high octane unleaded. So buy yourself a VW diesel now if this is our answer for Arabia. Two, they use massive amounts of natural gas and electricity to generate steam to seperate the crude from the substrate it clings to. If you have positions in oil sands long-term you might as well own some NG and coal stocks also. Lastly, these operations are terrible for the environment. Sesspools of used water everywhere which pollute groundwater and can't be cleaned (remember it only takes a drop of oil to pollute 100 gallons of ater, and there's a lot of drops up there), huge amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gases are released in the heating process, and I wouldn't doubt a few trees (or 1000s) are removed to get to the next hot spot. If you could find a play on protecting the environment you [b]own[/i] the ol sands projects. But given the above it hardl seems like they are our answer for the barren deserts of the Middle East.
Now I'm not saying don't invest in them, I am. I'm just questioning how long the Canuck government is goinf to allow them to run wild up there without restrictions. I also intended to portray the whole panorama so that we could all take advantage of pinaction.

Just got a 12 page newsletter in the mail that i take for $199 a year. The guy has had some great picks in china and energy stocks. Last year he gave me CWPC which has turned out to be huge. He also has some great chinese plays. I recieved the newsletter and could not believe his new pick. He says this emerging company has a lock on what could become not one but FOUR massive north american gas pools. I always go with andy carpenter and his picks as he has made some great calls. I loaded up and just added at 2.08. DOIG is now my top pick in these small oil plays with CWPC 2nd and DWOG 3rd. Good luck and i will post more from the 12 pages or just go to his web site and sign up and ask for the report. AsianBI.com good luck
