Hey Guys/Gals:

I am looking for some long term plays to make up the bulk of my portfolio, ones I will be holding for a long period of time. This does not include my mad money which I will be trading as needed. I have some index funds in my 401K and IRA but wanted some stocks in hopes of a bit more gain. Any solid companies you suggest that can be held for long term?

Any other questions of clarification feel free to ask. Thanks for your help.

BUD, KO, JPM, PG.....(50% of beer marker / world's second most recognized brand / financial / consumer goods) all pay dividends. Looking at leading companies in each sector is another way to go.

CVX (both oil and NG) as well.

As a long termer, my favorite at the moment is ITU. (a Brazilian bank.)

Some gold stocks good for the long run too (well, a year at least). AAUK, for instance. Or SU in the oil sector.

Never thought of that, I guess I could just pick the leader or "best of breed" in each sector. I can't forget the gold either, Thanks for the tips guys I will keep those in mind.

Anyone Else, any other we skipped over?

(yes, I will be holding these longer than a year)

I like Verisign a lot (VRSN) because the only thing holding this stock back is its mobile content business. Once this picks up, it could easily go to $35... It only has a p/e of 17 and a growth rate (projected ) of 20% +
